How to get custom hair ingame?

Heya guys, today I've been working on some custom hair for Fallout 3. So far the mesh and textures are done but I'm kinda stuck. I don't know how to get it ingame? I know how to do all the editor stuff but I don't know how to do the nif part. I knew a realy easy way on how to do it for oblivion but it won't be conformulated and rigged etc. which means that I can't port it to fallout that way. So I was wondering if anyone knows how to do this? Since I can't find a proper tutorial or whatsoever?

THanks :)!

what 3d program are you using? There is a Niftools plugin you will need for 3dsmax or Blender if you use either of those

also get Nifskope.

and install GECK if you havent yet.

10 second explanation:

Open up a vanilla hairdo in nifskope and see how its made, better yet, import the vanilla hair nif into your 3d package and export yours just like it, observe the modifiers on the vanilla one and try to recreate the same setup for yours. then in nifskope you want to copy and paste the Nitrishapedata blocks and paste them over the vanilla, then copy branch the SkinInstance (might be BSdismemberskininstance if it uses a bsdismemberment modifier) then paste branch onto the root node of the vanilla. Then in the main parent of the hair model in the nif, point it towards your new Skin instance block branch you pasted and delete the old one, then save.

Also associate .nif files with geck if you double click them and they are in the fallout3/data/ folder structure it will auto-open in the geck for a 3d preview window that is really handy.
