What does 'sight usage' do?

Just like it says in the topic title, what effect does the 'sight usage' parameter for weapons in GECK have? What is the difference between a high value like 2.5000 and a low value like 0.5000?

It did nothing when I tested, 0 to 100 had no effect on spread when using IS or no.

IS usage bonus on the other hand is governed by GMST fGunSpreadIronSightsMult,

so it looks like one of non-functional options to my mind.

Keep in mind that the GECK is maintained by the fan community, not by Bethesda. In the original page, as it was written by an employee of Bethesda, the description for Sight Usage is blank (reference). The "unknown" description was later added by Syn23, when he gave the page a bit of a makeover.

That said, I personally have no idea what "Sight Usage" does, if indeed it does anything. There was a brief thread about it over on the official forums a while ago ("Sight usage"...) but as far as I know it's unused.

It appears to set the aim point above or below the barrel. A higher value is used by sniper rifles, because the scope on the rifle is elevated above the barrel. A lower value is used on weapons that have no scope, so the player would be looking more directly down the barrel. The practical implications are that a higher value essentially means that the weapon aims low. This can be seen by putting a value of 2, standing very close to and shooting a metal road sign like a stop sign. The bullet damage will clearly be elevated above the point of aim.

Maybe its the other way around. Im seeing in GECK the values for SightUsage:

sniper rifle: 0.1000

Reservists: 0.0000

Victory: 0.1000

whereas HuntigRifle: 1.5

Could be related to the alignment of the weapons' axis with chosshair??? as an adjusting knob or something??
