Vendarr
Hello there! :) I just changed "fArrowBounceBlockPercentage" in the CS from 0.9500 to 0.1000 as I was extremely annoyed from the fact, that every time I held a massive iron or steel shield in an enemy's arrow's way - it simply went through, got stuck in my massive shield and still managed to hurt me... um... yea... :wallbash: Now, by having changed this value, when blocking there is a 90% chance that an arrow is bouncing off instead of only the vanilla 5%.The downside is, that this happens generally now when you try to block an arrow in any way - not only while blocking with a massive shield - but also if you block with a fur or leather shield - or even with a weapon. Which certainly is less realistic... I wish I were able to script...I would make it, that heavy, massive shields would provide a 100% bounce-off-chance, while light shields should have arrows getting stuck in them, but still provide a considerable amount of protection. Finally when blocking with a weapon, there should be almost no protection against arrows - unless having a high luck maybe - which could occasionally lead to holding the weapon in the arrow's way... um... by accident. :-) Maybe there is a talented scripter out there, who would also like the idea of getting more realism to this topic.....? :) Don't mind my imperfect English - I am not a native speaker. Damn prepositions... :P This is my first post on the forums. Hope I got the right spot. cheers!
Argomirr
I like this idea. And I think it's doable. But you'd have to attach scripts to all vanilla shields, and that wouldn't be great for compatibility... ...Unless you'd use OBSE to detect what shield the player is carrying. You'd need that anyway if you want to change game settings. I'm going to try it, but don't count on anything yet. I'm not sure whether I can get it to work. Vendarr
:thanks: for your reply, Argomirr. Don't worry. I don't count on anything. But nevertheless - may your efforts be crowned with success! I think we'd be not the only ones, who would appreciate such an improvement. cheers! Argomirr
I worked out a way to determine what shield the player is using and then set the settings accordingly, but it somehow refuses to function properly. I'd try to fix it if I had time for it, but sadly I don't. I guess this just ends up on my huge pile of things I need to have a closer look at when I have some more time... Too bad, it really is a nice idea.
Vendarr
Don't worry! :) Thank you for trying. I appreciate the effort! Maybe you some other time - or someone else has time AND a little bit more luck (which as we all know has an affect on everything we do...). :sorcerer:
