errors, followed all directions to no avail

dunno where to start, i'm at a loss after sifting thru forums for hours on end

Been a few days since i actually played this dang game...

 

I actually did a fresh install of everything today incl. main game, and FWE froze my screen @ the terminal in the shack when i woke up (new game). What prompted that was i was getting <!> across the board and FWE didn't work at all, so i shaved off like 30 mods and then decided to just try to start over with FOIP and everything...

I feel your pain.

Hang in there

 

I got a good install, but then I started learning how to make mods

and now I pretty much never play, because I'm busy making this

freaking huge awesome mod, that will almost never end it seems like.

20 more guns an I'm done.

 

 

Last time I started over

 

 

I moved the install further away from the system files

not just outside program files but on a seperate drive

 

Then I focused on which patch set up I needed

Which ended up being 1.5 plus master update

because it sounded the most easy

while also using the post 1.0.35 SLI stuff for multi grapics cards players.

 

 

The master update part was part of FO3edit, creating a short cut to FO3edit

then right clicking and adding -masterupdate to the target line with a space

after the quotes, like target "C:/bethesda softpoop\FO3edit.exe" -masterupdate

Then when you run that short cut it runs the master update program making changes

here an there also pointing out any errors, which stopped the master update process

where I could either delete that mod that caused the error or open it up with GECK

to see if GECK would sort of prompt to auto fix the error. After getting master update

to finish, all you do is hit the X an close the window, which saves the changes automaticly

then again running the program when you add new mods in.

 

 

 

I also created a save point with system restore, part of windows system tools

the save point was after I installed fallout 3 but before I patched or installed mods

I also had the mods I was going to install already downloaded at that point.

 

 

After I knew I had the patch set up I wanted to run, and also the poop ton of mods

already downloaded. Then I started installing things, all the hard manual way

taking note of things that would replace other things or cause conflicts.

 

basicly ending with two files, one file named done, which were zip/rar files

that I had unpacked an placed in my data folder,

then another file named not done, with stuff that I didn't install for obvious reasons

durring the manual install, deleted most of it, kept all of the done file though.

 

 

At this point all I really needed to do was come up with a load order

which was almost the hardest part, being 140 different mods

 

What I did was put fook at the top, MMM at the bottom with compatibility patches

after the .esp for which they patch to,

 

Then common items together as much as I could, weapons with weapons, clothing with clothing,

perks with perks, weather with weather, and such

 

While it didn't turn out perfect, but still better than the last time.

Works without as many crashes, but also I tweeked settings down

that I wouldn't notice anyway.

Also you should go to www.pandora.com an create a radio station you like to listen to while you install.

 

I did download the FOIP, but didn't need it, as the patches were with the updated versions for the mods

For one MMM just got a rather nice update, so you kind of have to pick which compatibilty patch you use.
