Hight rez textures or better use nexus textures?

You can use Bethesda texture pack and put on top of it preferred custom textures. Any loose files in your Skyrim/Data (/Textures) will override vanilla or dlc content. If it's .esp file load it last. HiRes pack in contrary to believes does not retexture everything, so you still may want some texture mods for true HD experience. Some authors offer their work in low (512) / mid (1k) / high (2k) / ultra (4-8k) resolutions. With decent computer you can get high to ultra textures for interiors and dungeons. I would suggest 1k for landscape + performance ENB + lightning mod (ELFX/RLO) for decent fps and great experience.

As nice as Hires pack seem at first glance it offers poor _n.dds files making everything flat. You can look for mods offering BUMP for vanilla textures or get new high quality packs.

Mods worth checking:

Xenius XCE

Better Males by Chris57

Cover Khajiit

Cover Eyes

aMidianBorn

VividLandscapes

Skyrim Ultra HD Texture Pack

Skyrim Realistic Texture Overhaul (Basic, Dragonborn, Mountains)

Chris2012s Whiterun HQ Texture Pack

Ruins Clutter Improved

Pure Waters

Tamriel Reloaded

I do not recommend Skyrim HD as it's in my opinion too similar to HiRes pack at a cost of few more fps, but feel free to experiment.
