Starfield mods won't deploy

I get an error message from Vortex that the game doesn't allow for Symlinks. I did see a couple of threads mention this but I didn't see that there has been an answer. I've reached the point in the vanilla game where I'm going to need mods to keep my interest. Any guidance would be appreciated. I'm a bit of a novice with Vortex.

So I was having the same issue but here are some things to be aware of that might help fix things on your end: symlinks are a way to deploy mods that are stored on one drive (say C) to a game that's stored on a separate drive (say D). A potential fix would be to go to the mods tab in settings, make sure that "hardlink deployment" is the selected option under deployment method, then click "suggest" on the mods staging folder, ensure its on the same drive as your game, then click apply. I also went to the download tab and switched my downloads folder to be in the same drive as my game. I had to restart nexus but it seems like things are working for me now. Hope this helps you!

Thank you. I appreciate the explanation. I've jumped over to BG3 and haven't had any issues. I plan to go back to Starfield once Bethesda releases the GECK or whatever it is and the mods, hopefully, start rolling. I will definitely try this.
