An mod idea that I give anyone permission to make a reality, credited or not. 

An lore friendly take on the Capsule Charges to take ergo instead of an max set of charges. 

"This capsule takes the very soul of ergo to restore vitality of both people and puppets by sapping ergo from any available source, be it blood of a living being, or puppets. An horrifying experiment tainted by bloodshed"

The capsule costs 100 ergo without any improvements.

At effectiveness 1 that jumps to 200 ergo cost. 15,000 ergo obtained means 15 charges. 

At effectiveness 2 that jumps to 400 ergo cost. At this stage 15,000 ergo drops to 13 charges, but the effectiveness you may find is worth it for the quartz, despite the increased cost. 

At effectiveness 3, it jumps to 800 ergo cost. At this stage, 15,000 ergo obtained drops to 10 charges. 

At effectiveness 4, it jumps to 16,000 ergo cost: At this point you must crush ergo crystals or fell enemies to get more charges, since 15,000 ergo simply isn't enough to get a full cell charge. 

 

This way you are rewarded for killing puppet after puppet, experiment after experiment, and boss after boss. You are rewarded for killing your enemies and being efficient and careful, and punished for dying due to arrogance and sheer recklessness. The more ergo you have, the more charges you get out of each upgrade. But increasing its effectiveness means you're gonna have to brawl more to pool more cells. You no longer have to wait for a cooldown, but the punishment is if you lose your ergo after dying twice. 

This way the player is rewarded from learning of past mistakes and rewarded for efficient combat.
