Costs: Action Range: Range: 18 m / 60 ft Recharge: Recharge: Short rest Duration: 3 Turns Problem: Survival instinct is terrible and lacks flavor. Request: Improve the ability Reason: The only mods that change illithid abilities are huge overhauls. Survival instinct is particularly bad both mechanically and flavorwise and I believe it deserves to be addressed separately. Suggestions: Remove cost only. (like Dread Ambusher) Keeps the ability most mechanically similar to vanilla without the unrealistic expectation of sacrificing a whole action or bonus action to use it. Change duration: Until Long rest Rather than an in-the-moment active response, players use instinct to decide who is most vulnerable during the strategy phase. Add a passive version that recharges on Long rest Way more thematically flavorful interpretation of the ability. The tadpole will attempt to keep its host alive in a pinch.
