IsaacSuit
My Disclaimer: I know there are ways already that you can skip having to deal with Piper at the Diamond City gate. For example, I have one of SKK's mods which allows me to automatically open up the main questline such that Nick's already been rescued and you've already given Piper an interview. Thus, when you go to DC for the first time, you don't have to engage with Piper or the mayor, much to my relief.H Overarching reasoning: I wish someone would create a mod that allows me to immersively tell Piper where to go and how to get there when she tries roping me into lying to get Danny to open the DC gate for her. When the sole survivor first encounters her, all they want to do is get into DC to find help looking for Shaun, yet we are forced by the game to just stand there and let a loud and hyper stranger who's losing her mind at the gate, to pull us into her rabblerousing. It's just not immersive, period, to shoehorn us one way into things. The actual request now: Please give the sole survivor a simple line of dialogue (or three) to tell Piper to you-know-what off. My ideal would be that Danny would hear her trying to get you to cooperate and lie, and he would also hear you tell her you are not getting involved and don't even know her, and then he'd apologize (easy splice of "I'm sorry" and "Open the gate" dialog from him, I should think) and open the gate for you which would still then allow things to continue normally, as the mayor would still stop Piper and give her crap, while you can just sail on by no worse for the wear or simply wait to speak to the mayor or Danny. If you choose to stay and listen to the mayor right now in vanilla, Piper once again tries to rope you, a completely stranger, into agreeing with her about newspapers and you already can respond in the negative, so the vanilla interactions at that point would fit your earlier rejection of her. The mod, if you choose not to help Piper, would also then not allow Story of the Century to start OR, at the very least, if Piper tries to get out of you what you're doing there you could reject her yet again, and the quest would automatically end. One other spot you'd have to catch with the mod is when Nick says he thinks the sole survivor ought to talk the whole Kellogg/Institute thing over with Piper. First, there is literally nothing that she says or does that helps advance the story at all in the vanilla game. It's NICK who thinks of the weird solution of going to Dr. Amari with bits of the merc's brain, and supposedly it's because Piper says the phrase "gets his brains blown out." Very, very flimsy story-wise as talking with you could've helped Nick think of the same thing. So there'd have to be a way for you to tell Nick that you don't like/trust Piper and/or don't want to go spreading your private business around to some loudmouth and nosy reporter. I think those are the only instances where the mod would need to directly touch quest bits, and it'd only be to add at least one dialog choice to the sole survivor to say no, and then suppress responses that wouldn't make sense in that case of saying no/declining whatever it is she's offering.
