fares26597
I don't know how good it would look, but I always thought it would be interesting to experiment with the idea of making the Erd Tree the main outdoors light source, instead of the sun and moon. That doesn't mean that the sun and moon have to be taken away, but a mixture of decreasing the intensity of their light and increasing the intensity of the Erd Tree's light. Meaning that if objects cast multiple shadows, the darker shadow would be coming from the blocking of the Erd Tree's light. I'm not even sure if the Erd Tree in the base game is a light source, to begin with, and in case it's not, it will first have to become one. Of course, there are "outdoor" environments where the Erd Tree is not present, or almost completely blocked by terrain and massive structures. So the light intensity of the sun and moon, along with any other environmental light sources like lava, must remain strong enough to illuminate the player's surroundings in those cases. This idea is mainly inspired by the trees of Valinor. As you can see in their depiction in the attached images, the sky in the background is clearly still illuminated by another far-away light source (e.g. sun), yet within this area of Valinor, the trees are the dominant light source, creating an everlasting sunrise/sunset effect.
