Vyndiktus
As im sure everyone is aware, every time there is a game update, the modding community goes into chaos everyone starts screaming for updates... What I normally do is just revert back to a saved backup of the entire game folder I made at the last game update. But that leaves issues as well, because not all modders keep revisional histories based upon game version, and some can't be found... SFSE has been good about including the game version, but many don't. But that got me wondering if it would be possible to have a "Mod" that was the game update itself. That way other mods could add it as a dependency, or the frameworks they use have that version added as a dependency so that mods would be versioned by the actual game version. So you could select an earlier revision of the game, and all it's mod dependencies show and can be switched in the mod manager. It would most likely be a legal issue, releasing and managing the actual game updates via a mod manager, but just allowing steam or whatever platform you use to update it things automatically just results in a nightmare situation that leaves people not being able to play the game at all. Just a thought. Feel free to leave feedback.
