theblackrook Posted February 27 Share Posted February 27 I recently posted an item here about a sword. A sword that someone has graciously taken the time to create. With the time and care they've put in and the wonderful lore conversations we have had, my imagination has been peeked. An entire story kind up popped up around the weapon and the character who used to wield it and now I am kind of interested to see if I can find a way to get this done. So I will start by sharing the sword we are testing and its info and then the rest of the armor that I thought would go with it. I will start by sharing the sword information here. But keep in mind it's already made :D! Midwinter's Solace: The blade of Aurora, Paladin of Auril. Aurora swore her Oath of Vengence to the Icewind in exchange for her guidance in finding her beloved on Icespire Peak. It is a token of the Frost Maiden’s fickle favor. When her lost love was finally found, he’d been change. Enthralled by one of Auril’s Frostwind viragos. The sword is meant to be a constant reminder that he chose the goddess' cold embrace over Aurora. Frozen Winter's Warrior: Your attacks have Improved Critical hit chance and ignores Resistance to Cold damage and Slashing damage . Cold Steel: Enemies struck by this weapon become Chilled for 2 turns. Victims already inflicted with the condition suffer an additional 1d6 Cold damage and suffer Encrusted with Frost. Frost Maiden's Fury: Striking a Critical Hit with this weapon creates an icy blast that leaves behind a 3m icy surface and possibly inflicts Chilled on nearby enemies. It Comes With 4 Special Attacks! Frost Smite: Recite your Oath to Auril and exact her cold retribution on your unfortunate foes. Unleash a devastating frost-charged smite that deals damage to enemies in a cone in front of you; possibly turning them Frozen. Enemies succeeding a constitution Saving Throw will be chilled instead. CostsAction + Bonus action ( Recharge Once per battle). 1d10 + 4 Slashing damage that scales every 4 levels. Glacial Fang: Channel your weapon's essence into a icicle that explodes on contact, inflicting 2 turns of Encrusted with Frost on all nearby enemies. Shard still detonates on miss. 1d8 (1~8) Cold damage that scales every 4 levels. Icewind Squall: Unleash the sword's frost in a circle around you. Creatures standing in the vicinity can become Chilled unless they succeed a Constitution Saving Throw. Creates a 3m icy surface around user. 1d6 Cold damage that scales every 4 levels. Flash Freeze: Charge forward and strike the first enemy in your way with your blade's cold steel; possibly inflicting them with Encrusted with Frost for 4 turns. Does not provoke Opportunity Attacks. 1d10 + 4 Slashing damage that scales every 4 levels. Aurilian Aegis: Auril's aspect flows from the armor like the cold winds of winter. To step in its presence is to invite her frigid cold. Those who don this blessed armor are marked as the Frost Maiden's faithful. Through this coldsteel armor the Icewind's chosen spreads the Winter's War to the far reaches of Faerun. 18 Armour Class + Dexterity modifier Medium Armour Required Proficiency: Medium Armour Rarity: Very Rare Weight: 12 kg / 24 lb Price: 3900 gp Exotic Material: Add your full Dexterity Modifier to your Armour Class. Additionally, this armour does not impose Disadvantage on Stealth Ability Checks. Permafrost Bulwark: Resistance to Cold damage Magical Plate: All incoming damage is reduced by 2. Armour of Agathys() : Cast as a level 3 spell ( Recharge: Long rest). I was definitely inspired by seeing Pooteeweet's Darksteel Chainamail. So In my head it looks a little something like that. Though I would edit around the neck and arms and stuff to be more thick cloth, leather or whatever go with the whole winter warrior themed. Below is what the armor would do. The armor would be medium instead of heavy armor. 16 + Dexterity Modifier as Aurora was a rare Dex Paladin. Frostwind Mantle: 'Don't cry for fools dear paladin. You'll be crying forever. Let me worry about your foolish fiance. You must attend to our goddess' interests. But think me not a selfish creature, I will offer you equal value for the man.' - Said to Aurora by the Frostwind virago before giving the elf her cloak. Arctic Enchantment: You gain a +2 bonus to Spell Save DC and Cold Spell attack rolls. Hunger of Hadar: () : Cast as a level 3 spell ( Recharge: Short rest). Cold Constitution: +2 to Constitution and to Constitution Saving Throws I was thinking about a cape that is a fusion between the furry shoulders of those absolutist. And the cape of the weave. A combination that looks like a nice warm winter coat. This combination is why I would want to be very careful on how the neck on the armor is done. As well as the hood. How they would go together I guess. Cold Goddess' Cowl: This cowl, once worn atop the pate of Artus Cimber, is adorned with symbol of the Queen of Frozen Tears. It is gifted to Auril chosen so all who look upon them can feel the cold winter's dread. Ice Cold Killer: You gain Advantage against Chilled enemies. Frost of Dark Winter : Cast level 4 Spell Frost of Dark Winter. ( Recharge: Short rest). Ice in Your Veins: You can't be Frightened, and cannot be afflicted with other emotion-altering conditions. Cold Stare: You gain +2 bonus to Intimidation. Eyes in the Dark: Blind Immunity: The wearer cannot be Blinded. A simple, slightly modified hood of the weave. Something that would not clash visually with the mantle. Winter's Deadly Grasp: Bond by her Oath, Aurora's hands would never again know love's warm embrace. Under the Brittle Maiden's patronage the only touch the paladin would share from then on would be the cold kiss of winter. Missile Snaring: You can intercept missiles from ranged weapon attacks with a Reaction, reducing their damage by 1d10 + your Dexterity modifier.. Ray of Frost: () : Cast as a cantrip at will. Winter's Deadly Grasp: UseBonus action to lower the number you need to roll a Critical Hit while attacking by 2. This effect can stack Duration: 1 turn. ( Recharge: Short rest). Strength Saving throws +1 Frost Giant Strength: Strength +2 This one I imagine would just be a cross between some cooler looking armored gloves/gauntlets visually on the model, but have the fur trim on the end to help with the wintery theme. The only model with fur trim in BG3 are these gloves. Auril's Winter Waders The path of the winter warrior is one Aurora must walk alone. As Auril's champion, the paladin bears the burden of bringing the Icedawn's icy wraith to her enemies. Bringing winter with her upon ever lonely step. Cold Step: () : Cast Elemental Warp as a level 2 spell to teleport to any icy or wet surface. ( Recharge Once per battle). Water freezes when you appear. Hoarfrost Master: You cannot fall Prone while traversing icy terrain and cannot be slowed. Winter's Womb: While standing on an icy surface at the start of their turn, wearer heals 1-4 Hit Points. Icewind Movement: Grants Click Heels when wearer is standing on an icy surface. +2 to Athleticism +1 to AC Same with the gloves, All I'd want visually is the fur trim on some cool greaves/boots. And again, these are the only thing that has fur trim. Cold Comfort: The Frost Sprite Queen is not without her cold ironies. Rather than releasing Aurora's betrothed, Valryn, Auril instead gifted Aurora a new companion and a bonding band to match. Frozen Fury: When dealing Cold damage, the wearer deals an additional 4Cold Icedawn's Emissary: Summon Valryn the Winter Wolf () : Cast as a level 3 spell ( Recharge: Short rest). Ice Knife: () : Cast as a level 5 spell ( Recharge: Long rest). Aurora's Anguish: The memento of Aurora, Paladin of Auril. Touching this amulet you are inundated with Aurora's memories and emotions. A strong sense of sorrow and loss grips your hear as the chill of cold runs through you. Then as if to answer the cold, a steely sense of warm purpose bolsters your resolve. Cold Conviction: During combat, when the wearer starts their turn with 50% Hit Points or less, they gain 1d4 (1~4) to melee attack and damage rolls. Bitter Cold: Use Bonus Action to make enemies within 2 m / 6.5 ft of the wielder Vulnerable to Cold damage, unless they are Immune to it for 3 turns. Tears of Regret: Cast a level 3 conjuration spell. This spell allows spellcasters to call forth a storm that douses fire, creates an Ice Surface, and disrupts the Concentration of spellcasters.( Recharge: Long rest). Lastly, as if my idea wasn't complicated enough. I have an edit on the Winter Wolf Valryn summon that the ring does. I have the edited info down below. Winter Wolf Valryn Cost: Action Details: Range: 18 m / 60 ft Recharge: Short rest Winter Wolf (Valryn) Immunity toCold and Hoarfrost Master: Winter wolf cannot fall Prone while traversing icy terrain and cannot be slowed. STR 16 (+3) DEX 12 (+1) CON 12 (+1) INT 7 (-1) WIS 12 (+1) CHA 8 (-1) Summon a Wolf that can inflict devastating wounds and knock enemies Prone. Chilling Bite: Bite a target to 2d4 + Dexterity ModifierPiercing damage + 2Cold. Lunging Bite: Lunge at a target to deal 2d6 + Dexterity ModifierPiercing damage + 2Cold, with a possibility of knocking the target Prone. Pack Tactics: When an ally is within 3 m / 10 ft of your target and is not Incapacitated, your Attack Rolls against the target have Advantage. Frost Breath: Spew a cone of damaging ice energy for 2d6 (2~12) Cold damage. At character level 6, the damage increases to: 3d6 (3~18) Cold damage At character level 11, the damage increases again to: 4d6 (4~24) Cold damage Your wolf companion has 11 Hit Points and 13 Armour Class. It is also proficient in Stealth and Perception. At Higher Levels Level 5 Immunity toCold and Hoarfrost Master: Winter wolf cannot fall Prone while traversing icy terrain and cannot be slowed. Winter Wolf (Valryn) [Wolf model would just get larger, glowing eyes, and frost breath periodically from around mouth] STR 16 (+3) DEX 14 (+2) CON 14 (+2) INT 7 (-1) WIS 12 (+1) CHA 8 (-1) Frost Fiend: You deal an additional 1d6 damage against Chilled enemies. Bitter Cold Bite: Bite a target and possibly inflict them with 3 turns of vulnerability to Cold. Inflicted targets have -1 to Constitution for the duration. Companion's Bond: Your summoned companions receive a bonus to Armour Class, damage, and attack rolls (even though this is not stated) equal to your Proficiency Bonus. Icewind Movement: Grants Click Heels when wearer is standing on an icy surface. Your Winter Wolf companion now has 31 Hit Points and 16 Armour Class. Its Dexterity and Constitution increases by 2. Level 7 Exceptional Training: Allows all your companions to Dash, Disengage and Help as a bonus action. Icy Glare: An action that possibly Frightens a target. Level 8 Frostbite Fang: Bite a target to 2d6 + Dexterity ModifierPiercing damage + 4Cold. A chance to inflict 2 turns of Encrusted with Frost upon the target(s). [Replaces Chilling Bite] Howling Storm: Winter wolf howls calling forth a storm that douses fire, creates an Ice Surface, and disrupts the Concentration of spellcasters. Your Wolf companion now has 61 Hit Points and 16 Armour Class. Level 11 Immunity toCold and Hoarfrost Master: Winter wolf cannot fall Prone while traversing icy terrain and cannot be slowed. Winter Wolf (Valryn) [Wolf model would just gets larger as in the enlarge spell, glowing eyes, and frost breath periodically from around mouth as well as the long strider wind affecter around him.] STR 16 (+3) DEX 18 (+4) CON 14 (+2) INT 7 (-1) WIS 12 (+1) CHA 8 (-1) New Ability: Cold Step: () : Cast Elemental Warp as a level 2 spell to teleport to any icy or wet surface.( Recharge Once per battle). Water freezes when wolf appears. Frost Blade: Strike nearby targets within 3 m / 10 ft using a spectral ice sword that appears between your jaws. 1d10 (1~10) Piercing damage + 2d6 (2~12) Cold damage + Dexterity modifier. Bestial Fury: Grants all your companions an extra attack. Your Wolf companion now has 91 Hit Points and 21 Armour Class. Its Dexterity increases by 4.
