BruceMalone
It is my believe First Appearance should not have purple gloves. Yes they are sort of purple in #27, 28, 29, & 30, but thats arguable at best. Original panel scans (not recolored) look skin-colored, indicating he is gloveless. On the cover, they are always blue. I think they were always meant to be blue like the cover, but the colorist thought he was gloveless, as they were short and hard to distinguish, so he made the color of skin at night. Since Batman was literally a nobody at this point, this flew for a couple issues, but as soon as the gloves were reworked to be longer and more obvious, they were always unanimously colored blue. From Detective comics 31 onward, his design is much more consistent and this is the definitive 'First Batman' in most people minds. The first couple of appearances are like prototypes and aren't really purple anyways. I think Detective comics 31-33 and onward should be the inspiration for this look.
