Constantly crashing

Recommended Posts

Well I've had to reinstall FO3 many times now as it seems I'm unable to play without a large amount of mods, but the more mods that go in the greater the risk of games becoming unplayable. Right now my current game went ok for a while, then random crashing and then crashing every time I try to load. FO3edit doesn't show and fatal errors, but there are a few errors on there, one involving Point Lookout dialogue.

Also having problems with followers, they wont come inside with me.

Any help appreciated.

Well yeah I totally agree

Wait, what were we talking about?

Fatal errors an FO3edit you say, sounds like an advanced use for it

most just use it that way to find small item conflict errors or big red !

There is not interface or program that will tell you if you have errors

or even what they mean, besides a bunch of numbers.

You have to just read an read an know what does an does not work.

Followers not comming inside sounds like a navmesh problem, idk

see if caring an sharing companions or whatever can help with it

Plus if it's a player made cell they may have not put a navmesh in it

which would not allow npc's to walk around in there, messy huh

LOLZ

Okay so you don't have anything as far as compatablity patches for FWE to work with MMM

Also there is nothing you have to allow WMK to work with anything else that changes loot lists an such

WMK is great, I liked it, but ditched it because it conflicted, Also when I looked at the meshes

inside WMK it's messy, To tell the truth, unless WMK get's a nice update soon

I'd drop it an if I wanted things like extended clips or optics then just use

Custom player made weapons, and then again you could always make your own versions

All you really lose is the ability to make weapons an such in game

Which you should probably look into CRAFT, There's a mod now that allows you

to make all the weapons in FOOK via a work bench, which is wild.

But anyway, yeah, If you simply must have that messy WMK

an hey nothing is wrong with messy, I for one like clean stuff

I had a gun with a hammer missing an it caused a crash

non messy stuff avoids this, but if you really wanted

you could find compatiblity patches for WMK an also maybe even instal it last

in different spots in the load order until it doesn't crash.

Next, you really need to spend time putting stuff that does the same thing together

Most of the little stuff esp plug in's for like a gun or a armor, tiny mods don't really matter

where you put them, but it is best to put your largest mods in size first after the ESM's

What's so special about FWE anyway, Stuff like FWE an XFO looks cool, but I mean

Seems kind of lame if you ask me, besides the hard to understand path to install them

I could be wrong, and I'll look at FWE again, At any rate The only thing that causes

more Problems than DLC's is FWE, an then maybe WMK, LOLZ

Or so you hear on the net in the mass of flames these get.

But then it doesn't look like you have FOIP built into that load

Fallout Inter operability program or FOIP, compatibility patches

They usually go right after the esp to which they patch too

so like MMM-NonFOOKFWE.esp would be right after MMM.esp I think

but before the optional MMM stuff.

If you ask me the FWE, XFO stuff is just a bunch of stuff put in one mod

You can get most of that stuff in small mods spread around nexus

which are more easy to work with. Just a thought.

Also MMM should be last in the order

Also MMM just got a rather nice update, which put it way past the point of uber awesomeness

Crashes like you are having, or well discribed sounds to me like a red flag for a bad patch set up

Plus the lack of compatibilty patches, an shady installs

Installing 25 times isn't bad perse, you learn more each time an the end result which is the world you built

will turn out better an better each time

So what kind of patch ya running

To make it simple for ya,

If I had two grapics cards SLI I would be running 1.5 plus FO3edit master update, or 1.6 plus FO3edit master update

There are other reasons to use 1.5 an 1.6 besides haveing SLI or crossfire

Pretty simple, patch to 1.5 1.6 then find the FO3edit.exe right click, create a shortcut

right click the short cut, propertys, see the target line

You wana add a space then -masterupdate so it looks like this

"C:/FO3edit" -masterupdate Something like that

I don't know what the target line says, don't change that part

just add the -masterupdate part, then run the short cut

it will load stuff an display all that, if there is a error

then you can either ask the mod that caused the error's maker

to fix it, or open that mod set to active in GECK an hope

that GECK will prompt to auto fix, if it does say yes then save

then run master update again, if it errors again, delete the mod

and move on, once you get master update to finish, then

you just click the X to close it an it will save

then just run the same master update each time

you add in new mods, pretty easy after the first time.

Then if I only had one Grapics card, I'd run 1.0.15 plus the fake patch mod an path

You'll have to find Fake patch on nexus download it then follow the link in the discription on Nexus

to follow the thread on another site that tells how to do it

But this is comming from someone that doesn't use DLC's

Which brings up something else

Had you say, Put your title of this post

as "Constantly Crashing with DLC's"

Then I wouldn't have replied, as DLC requrie more specialized diagnosis an repair plus set up

You really wana know what to do then ask someone that uses DLC's

Update your grapics drivers recently, Defrag your hard drives?, You do know to install The bethesda file outside of program files

in it's own folder, or even on a seperate hard drive from the system drive. How much data is in your Desktop.

Tons of files an stuff on the desktop may crash you upon exiting the game causing a lock up between

transfering from the games shell to the windows shell, but it's not such a bad problem, it is in the background though.

Running a poop ton of mods isn't such a big deal, provided that you can now do clean installs.

By clean I mean you don't auto install, install manually, following the path in the Zip/rar

then also looking in your data file to see what it will replace. Also taking note that things

that mod the same thing like loot lists or weather or hair all conflict with each other

What I do is have 100-200 mods already downloaded an install them all at once

watching an reading everything in there for red flags that say I can't use

I'll put the downloaded Zip/Rar files that I end up installing in a folder named Done

as in I"ve done them, then put the stuff that threw up a red flag in Not done

to either edit later to use with what I have or just delete.

You can also add mods one at a time slowly over time, then hey if there is a crash

then you know, because for one the all at once mod leaves you with another

2-3 hours tweeking the load order after you finish installing, which is wild

because right after you just install 150 mods the load order is vast

and all mixed up, like the fallout.esm in the middle

FOMM, FOSE ? You should if you don't use them...

Did you know there is a CRAFT to be able to make Calibr ammo?

Also it doesn't look like you have a lot of Calibr guns, but a lot of them

conflict with things. Don't worry I'm about to drop 50 stand alone calibir guns

that won't conflict, and also have had the messy meshes cleaned up.

It's been a long long long drag of work work work on it.

What's so bad about FOOK, besides it being huge? 2.0 comes out soon.

You can also follow the ultimate load order, it's outdated, but still you'll learn a lot of good tricks

to very clean installs, part of why ultimate load order works as well as it does is because

it's a very clean install. Just search ultimate load order on nexus.

After I did the ultimate load order I ended up with a bunch of stuff I didn't want

so after a while I deleted it an started over, then applying what I had learned

to get what I wanted to use, It turned out pretty good, but with any build

you end up with problems getting the load order just right.

This last time I ended up with stuff I knew I wanted, but

it took so much work I stopped working on it.

I'll paste it below. Maybe after I get this mod done

I can start working on it again.

Wow thanks for the reply. I deleted my data folder and reinstalled FOOK, MMM and a few other mods, haven't had time to really test it yet but at least I can get it running. I think FWE just causes too many problems, so I won't be using it for now.

I'll have to look into the crafting thing, that sounds really cool, I got it with FWE but couldn't figure out how to make anything.
