General workflow for new worldspaces?

Several hours in to making a custom Yuma, and I find myself just placeholding various buildings and objects using whatever seems close enough from poking around vanilla settlements.  The object filters are rather clunky, and the way objects are sorted isn't the best.

Seems like this should be fine for now.  I hate staring at blank and flat terrain, and I figure it might be easier to come back later if I get custom meshes or whatever.  Might be an issue with object counts?
