InDarkestNight
I went one-handed, block, heavy armor, archery, and speech (the last mainly to be different). I've done builds like this in the past, minus speech of course. However, as I've leveled, for some reason everything just keeps getting harder and harder to kill. I'm getting sick of it taking dozens of hits to kill every draugr and warlock. Just now, I had to chase a freaking necromage halfway across the map (literally), due to her spamming frost spells at me making it nigh impossible to catch up to her to get in a hit, which on top of this only ever took off a sliver of health. I ended up just shooting her with arrows, which hit for even less damage (I've only been using it for dragons, so its super low). Honestly here, I don't even want to play this character anymore. I'm bored out of my mind taking forever to kill everything, and not being able to do any quests due to me trying to avoid evil questlines, which pretty much all of them are. The only reason I've stuck so long with this guy is because I don't want to start all over from square one yet again. I am beyond sick of playing through the first 5 or 10 levels of my character's life over and over again due to something going wrong. I'm also sick of doing the intro quest for LotD I've done it so many god damned times. I have gotten farther than ever, I'm level 22, but that's purely because I don't want to start all f*#@ing over again. I need to avoid doing experimental builds. Like I've said before, nothing works other than straight warrior (gussing adding speech f*#@ed up everything for no reason), paladin, conjuration warrior (maybe with destruction), stealth archer, stealth illusionist (with maybe conjuration), and straight mage. What went wrong this build? Its a straight warrior plus one skill. If I just went with 4 skills, would that have been better? I normally go 5 skills, but I guess having abnormally high skill ranks would've helped (I was having a hard time investing perks into anything, simply because nothing was high enough). I just chose speech because I've never really done it before and wanted to give it a try for once. I've learned my lesson, don't invest in speech. I still don't understand what went wrong. Why would having one extra skill make the build suck? Was it me abandoning restoration/smithing to make room for that skill? Maybe it was. So much for playing a goody-two-shoes knight. And yes, maybe I need to quite the game for a while and go play something else. But due to FORCED UPDATES ON STEAM DESTROYING EVERY SINGLE GAME I OWN, I LITERALLY HAVE NO OTHER GAMES AND I AM NOT WILLING TO PAY MORE MONEY FOR A GAME THAT'S GOING TO BE TORN AWAY FROM ME IN 4 OR 5 YEARS AT f*#@ING BEST. edit: Oh and I forgot, my gear. Right now I'm wearing full plate armor (the latest armor I can find), and wielding the Thornblade (can't find a better weapon) and Eidolon's Ward (not the best shield, but the +75 health more than makes up for it) from the LotD mod (version 4). I also have destendar's ring, which gives me 30% resistance to all three elements. I'm an imperial, and I'm using the steed stone. I've been investing 50/50 into health and stamina. I should have plenty of health, but I keep having to chug health potions for every fight and I rarely have enough health potions to get through a dungeon because I need to chug dozens of them. I've actually been wishing there was a shout in the game that heals you, seriously. And no, my magic resistance isn't the problem; my toughest fights are against falmer for some reason. I was actually trying to rush to level 24 so I could get an item that will give me 50% resist poison (the dungeon is really tough, and has a minimum level of 24). Honestly though, I don't know if I could even do it. Even with a character that didn't suck, I've had that boss wipe the floor with me in the past. Holy f*#@ing s#*! he's op. Its why I'm waiting to be a higher level before doing it. edit: As for mods, the only 'content' mod I have is LotD. No creature mods, no combat mods, nothing. Also, I've checked and the game IS set to adept difficulty. The only other mods I have is the unofficial patch, Better Bethesda Performance textures, NVAC for stability, and a few miscelleanous bug fixes that aren't available anymore. There is no reason my character should be getting weaker with every level. Edited May 14 by InDarkestNight
InDarkestNight
Well, tried to go into a dungeon. Having spent all my dozens of potions on one enemy, I couldn't handle the HORDES of them in the dungeon. I just let my worthless character die, and deleted the auto-save from entering the stupid cave BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT IT ANYMORE. I sat there for a minute watching my worthless shitty character burn eternally due to the game not having a save to load. So much for being a nice guy. In this game, you need to be a villain. You can't be a nice guy, OR YOU WILL DIE A HORRIBLE DEATH. Shows you what type of company bethesda is, doesn't it? Maybe we should've suspected something from them based on the game they made. So now, no more speech ever again. Only way through anything is violence and other evil acts. Mindlessly consort with daedra and do their vile quests. Then pretend you're a good guy despite being a murder hobo who's willing to do anything just to collect treasures you'll never have a use for anyway. xkkmEl
You should watch The Bridge on the River Kwai. There is value in principles, but up to a point. It's a game. You kind of have to go with the script. But in that respect, it's not so different from real life. Om mani padme hum.
InDarkestNight
That doesn't address why my build sucked. What went wrong? It was just a warrior with speech. Was it me putting perks into speech? I did have all the perks in the warrior skills I could take. Was it the lack of smithing? Did LotD do something? I know the creatures added to its various dungeons are harder than normal, but as far as I know they shouldn't be affecting vanilla dungeons. I've decided to change my build and start again. Besides, I was wishing I had installed Unread Books Glow. Also, I decided I wanted provincial courier service. I hate the f*#@ing courier. In fact, this game I was doing everything I could to avoid him in solitude. Whenever I saw him sprinting towards me, I would run away and try to find a load door I had a reason to enter. It was literally like I was playing a survival horror game, seriously. Looking around all the time, getting jump scared by seeing the courier rushing towards me as fast as he could, then running around trying to evade him. So yeah, no more courier, even though with that mod I kept forgetting to check my mail. I would also imagine it would cause issues with that one quest on solstheim, but f*#@ it I can't stand the courier any longer. So Provincial Courier Service it is. I was also thinking about The Choice is Yours, but I can find nothing about its compatiblity with LotD. Oh well. Back on point, my new build will be 100% a warrior. Heavy armor, block, two-handed (to distinguish it from my following dagger assassin playthrough), and smithing. Strangely, I've never played an orc warrior before, so this should be a bit different (it would be nice to finally have actual use for the berserker rage power, only full playthrough I've ever done as an orc was a mage, seriously). Also, this is fewer skills than I normally invest in. Will be interesting seeing what effect it has. My skills should be higher than normal for my level, but as a trade-off, I'll have a lower max level. Maybe that will discourage me from delaying quests just so I can get the most powerful version of its leveled gear. Farzaneh
If you use EFF you can sneak up, open both Recruit options and Draft your 'Happy Volunteers"' to fight for you. In Menu setup use Classic Interface, deactivate redundant commands except Follow/Relax/Collect [which will send them ahead and cause trouble]. I Morrowind it is NPC Command V8, in Oblivion it is Jedi Powers which I modified 5x and 12 hours. There are 18 Master Trainer/Merchants in Skyrim Community Colledge which I modified to 100% and cut prices to 10%. I also drafted them when the non-merchant services no longer needed. My collection of followers included Spriggan/skeltons/bears/goats/rats/wolves/cats/Snow Elf Creatures/Dwemer robots/mammoth/giants/vampires/bandits/Forsworn/trolls even one dragon {the fluffy, four-eyed horny goat in Enderal} which you can Teleport into any interior. Unfortunately, XPIRE turned off user pics so I couldn't upload my collection of Happy Volunteers.
Farzaneh
P.S. Be mindful of what you mean by "Straight" as it may be interpreted that you are a "Gay" Player who doesn't like to play as a "Straight" character!
