Kinda but not really the same game loss.

Recommended Posts

Hello! This is my first time reaching out for assistance, as I can usually resolve most issues I have myself.

I recently updated Vortex to vr 1.11.4 and find myself experiencing the issue where Vortex cannot locate my copy of Skyrim Special Edition to manage. I know it's an experience multiple people have had, and I've been looking through the various threads, but none of them seem to address my specific situation.

  • I most recently played the game last night with no issues.
  • I have not moved any files on my system sense then, and have only been doing some schoolwork online sense Vortex was last opened.
  • I have not added any other/new mods to the game for a couple of days.
  • My game/Vortex has not been experiencing any crashes or failures.
  • It just kinda refused to suffer SKSE any longer...

From the various threads I have read, I've already started to see if any of the usual solutions work. For example, I checked to make sure all the SKE files are exactly where they are supposed to be, and everything looks good. I have logged out and back in. I have restarted the program (and my computer). I have checked the Bundled game settings in the Extensions, and everything is enabled as I expected. I have attempted to manually re-add SKE to my managed games, but Vortex only responds with "failed to set game mode", which states it cannot locate a slew of files that are exactly where they're listed to be.

Should I just uninstall/reinstall Vortex? If that is the case, do I have to re-download all of my mods- and will it cause conflicts because they already technically exists? Are there any other resolutions to this that doesn't involve uninstalling/reinstalling everything?

I thank you for any advice you may have. I'd like to continue turning the Stormcloaks into a greasy stain under my all-powerful fists at the earliest opportunity.
