Guest deleted44205482
Hellooo I've been modding games since 2014 I think? Started with Skyrim, mostly modded SDV, now I'm obsessed with BG3. Never created a mod of my own despite having ideas. Anyways. Like the title says, the glow/flame effect is not working and I canNOT for the LIFE of me figure it out??? It's driving me insane ;-; I used this site to sort my load order but I had to guess on some of the mods so it's probably still a disorganized mess. Been struggling with the damn eye effect for FIVE DAYS NOW!!! Finally admitted defeat and am crawling on my hands and knees to humbly request help... here are the screenshots of my load order and the (lack of) eye effect. I do have SE, I just have it installed to be compat with Native Mods so BG3MM yells at me cuz it can't find it but IT'S THERE I PROMISE. Also was trimming mods I decided I didn't want as I took the shots, and missed a couple (2 patches for a hair and a horn mods) so those will be in the screenshots but I uninstalled them as well, so pay those no mind... It's bizarre because I test with both nonmodded eyes and faces as well as modded and NO COMBINATION OF THE FOUR WORKS. Been uninstalling and reinstalling mods endlessly to try and figure this out. The eyes remain static no matter what!!! I could just throw up my hands and say "whatever" and just play... but this is one of my favorite details in the game... and I'm pissed I can't figure this out, and stubborn to boot, so... any help is appreciated ;-; (originally posted to wrong forum, oops)
Guest deleted44205482
Mannnnn. I feel a bit stupid, as it just 'magically' fixed itself after I finally said "fck it" and went to just play anyways... literally while I was designing my Durge, the glow effect started working, after being static when I loaded in... apparently I was too impatient for it to load. Feel so dumb lmao
ErgoVoid
Actually, you probably weren't being dumb and impatient: the glow eyes thing is a real issue, so if it's working now you may have made a change that fixed it. Sure sometimes the effects load in a little slow, but also not all mods are configured for VFX (the glow eyes), some are, and all mods that are inherently conflict with each other. So it doesn't even matter if your Tav/Durge is using a face mod that does support VFX if it's overridden by another face mod's configuration. If you have multiple face mods and the face you're using has glowing eyes, you got lucky. Why? The game basically uses one set of files for VFX for all the faces in game. Face mods that support VFX override those files with their own version that includes lines for their faces. If you have multiple mods with VFX support, the game can still only use one version of those files at a time, so it's going to pick one set from one mod. If it doesn't pick the set from the mod you're using for your Tav/Durge (or if that mod doesn't include VFX support), their eyes won't glow. I'm not sure how the game picks which VFX overrides work, but unfortunately it's not load order. If you run into this later you can try uninstalling all face mods except the one you're using for your character or check if your face mods are ones supported by Patches for VFX - which is a set of VFX override files with support for multiple, but not all face mods (and includes some that don't have VFX support natively, I believe).
