Question about forwarding changes in authored mod.

Posted (edited)

I'm just finishing up a mod that pairs nicely with the mod EBQO (even better quest objectives)--my mod touches many of the quest entries that it edits.

I'm going to forward some of the edits that are pertinent to my mod (namely, slightly more descriptive objectives / journal entries). Permissions allow for this.

My first question--I'm assuming it makes sense to also forward update.esm into my mod as well ?

And I've left USSEP changes NOT forwarded, but rather have built a patch for it. Is this the right way to go about it for distribution ? I frankly wish I could just forward them into my mod and not think about it. But is that uncouth ? I'm assuming many don't use USSEP.

Moreover, if there are USSEP edits that do NOT add USSEP as a dependency, should I just go ahead and forward them ? They seem to involve pretty serious fixes for quests.

Note: this is my first time dealing with any of this in a mod I'm authoring, so I acknowledge I'm a big dummy and am open to your chiding / correction / elucidation.

EDIT: I'm on v1.6.640 if it's relevant.

You shouldn't need to forward if you include the update.esm as a master for your mod. I always include Skyrim.esm and Update.esm by default cause of this.

Thanks dylbill !  I didn't do that initially thinking I would leave out all such edits until I was totally done with the mod. I only had skyrim.esm as a master--I was open to having it work across multiple versions of the game. But considering the challenge (that I now see) of maintaining parallel versions, I think I'll have to just require the DLC, update. Update is master now.

No problem, yeah including Update.esm as a master just makes things easier. Forwarding from for instance the unofficial patch is sometimes necessary, but I don't like to include that as a master. Just a personal preference. Happy modding!
