schakusa
Hey guys, just joined here because ive some questions about drawcalls and cpu related fps drops in the areas we all know Im using a highend sys (13900k@stock, 4090, 32gb 4000mhz cl16 ram) and fallout (downgraded version) with around 300 mods and used midnight and other instructions for modding. My game works mostly fine with 120 fps cap (edited high fps fix, etc) but im asking myself if i can do more against the cpu/drawcalls limited fps drops, for example in front of good neighbour. At the moment i have there up to 18k drawcalls, ~85% load on 2 cores, and fps drops to 50.60fps and gpu is sleeping when i look and walk around the tower. One, perhaps important thing: i installed "scrap everything" (yeah, i know about the problems now after research today -.-) to clean my first and only base (after around 100 hours - savegames backuped before install) and uninstalled it cause goes my fps was worse than before. i changed the .ini command like bUseCombinedObjects back to 1 but i am not sure if there are still conflicts. is it possible? Because of the fps loss with SE im looking at my fps much more than before and im not sure if i had up to 18k drawcalls and 50fps aroud good neighbour before using this mod.. If there is no conflict after removing SE - is there any way what i can do against those drawcall related fps drops instead of buying an amd x3d cpu? For sure im using nearlly all mods which should help with cpu usage and 60fps is more than other people have at all... but it runs sooo smooth and awesome looking with 120fps, so the drops feel very bad and if its possible i would try to optimize it as much as possible I tried behtini low and ultra preset and there are around 5-7fps more and 12-15k drawcalls with low settings. So i think i can ignore lowering view distance and shadows? Sorry for starting here with this wall of text of stupid(?) questions but perhaps there is a thing i missed or some things i could optimize to get drops only to 80-90fps which wouldnt hurt my eyes so much? best regards schakusa
TurntLogic
You can lower the amount of draw calls with precombines, which in turn lowers CPU usage. I would look into the Previsibines Repair Pack as it's probably the best option, but it may require a lot of patching on your end to make it work with your modlist.
schakusa
thanks alot for your answer, but im already using prp but i will look at it and the settings there again
DjinnKiller
What are you aming for? Maximum fps? I have a 4090, but have locked fps at 60. (my old eyes can't compute anything higher anyway). Running a boatload of 4k textures, and running the game in 4k (yeah, I know, it is not the same thing). VRAM usage varies, depending on mods, where I am etc, from around 8-10GB to 22-23GB VRAM in use. The game istself in some cases are using around 16BG of RAM. Usually lower. No problem, smooth as silk.
schakusa
i am aiming at more minfps! the max amount of frames, i capped at 120fps, are great, the 4090 can handle all mods easy only the cpu is crying in boston and areas with high amount of drawcalls. but i think i have to accept it cause i tried now nearly everything to get more min frames (drops to around 80-90 would nice).. but if i get it right, drawcalls are rendered only on 1 core in dx11 and for me around 7000-8000drawcalls are fine, but 10k and more i will get fps drops. But if someone else has another tipp or something, let me know
DjinnKiller
To each is own As I said, I locked at 60, no mather what at throw at it (mods, textures, whatever), no problem, rock solid. Since I am not chasing high fps, I have nothing to advise. But, if you have the time (when you get this sorted), please post about it, if you care. fraquar
50 FPS is perfectly playable. What is the real problem? Added: This was a game made a decade ago based on hardware that had nowhere near the high end todays hardware has - so it can't leverage it anyway. You could throw a 2035 1.2nm die Intel and a Nvidia 12090 at it - probably still going to have the same issue. Edited May 26 by fraquar

Thanks again! cause of your answer i checked again my PRP and Exo fixes and after checking my .ini files again i saw bUsePreCulledObjects was set to 0.... After removing "scrap everything" i set bUseCombinedObject back to 1, but it looks i forgot to change back the previs command Now my "perfectly playable" 50fps drops are now ~95fps in front of good neighbour while looking around
