TFAric
So I am modding Skyrim and it is working as intended except for missing textures, I am pretty sure I know why. I have Skyrim 202X by Pfuscher that is updating more or less all textures and then I have JK's Skyrim that is adding some extra things, it is some of the JK's Skyrim that is missing textures and I think it might be that JK's is loading before 202X. They are not having a conflict so can't use that to chose what one loads first, so how do I manually change load order? Edit: So somebody moved this away from the Vortex forum even if this was literally a question how to change the load order on Vortex not how to mod Skyrim. Edited May 31 by TFAric A mod moved my post so I had to clarify I am using Vortex
KWRMF197
Vortex doesn't have the ability to move mods up or down your load order like MO does. We have to use LOOT. Load everything up, find JK's, right click, edit metadata, then use the load after tab to add Skyrim 202X to the list. Sort, update master list, close loot. Vortex should start reorganizing as soon as you sort with LOOT. If you want to double check, go into the plugins tab of Vortex to visually confirm the change. JK's should be loaded after Skyrim 202X. If Vortex isn't showing the two mods are conflicting though, I'd also try re-downloading and installing JK's.
TFAric
Thank you for your help, LOOT can't find the texture mod what to ever so sadly it didn't work. The author for the mod told people to use Mo2 so I guess I will have to delete everything and start from scratch with Mo2. Still I did appreciate you taking your time to help me! Edit: Apparently LOOT bugged out my Vortex, guess it is a sign to not use it. Edited June 1 by TFAric
7531Leonidas
The built-in LOOT in Vortex works fine. What doesn't work so well is using a separate installation of LOOT on top of Vortex. I think that the standalone installation cannot utilize the routines/safeguards that Vortex has with the built in LOOT. If Pfuscher's 202x causes some JK stuff to go missing, it would show up as an overwrite in Vortex. It is more likely a corrupted d/l or install process. Like the other poster said, d/l and reinstall the JK mod(s).
anjenthedog
In addition to what Leo said, note that while Vortex is pretty good at suggesting load order in cases where the player has to intervene to resolve a load order issue, it's not 100%. There are times that even while Vortex is suggesting a 'before' or 'after' load for a given plugin, (rather than just assigning an order without prompt) the results of choosing the vortex recommended order will not produce the player's desired end. Textures and NPC/Beast overhauls are ime, highly susceptible to this. In cases where vortex is unsure enough that it feels it necessary to prompt the player for load order choice, I'd strongly recommend checking all affected entries (on either side) to see what their authors say about their load order, and balance it with the player's desired outcome, (and the player's unique mod list), as well as avoiding the dreaded CYCLE error situation (somewhat easy to resolve when a single issue, a total pita when you encounter a string ball of reentrant load orders containing multiple unrelated conflict chains (ex: when you bulk install a dozen mods without performing due diligence, and eventually post "I got this ball of mess cycle thingie how does I fixes it?" and when view ing the cycle error they kindly provide, it looks like a cartoon of a cat/dog fight) (a cycle is when the last load order entry in a load chain is defined such that it points back to the chain's source (round and round it goes.. a->b->c>a>b>c..... hence the error)
