Sneak attack bug

so iv been being plagued by the bug that causes enemies thats are one shot by a sneak attack to be unlootedable and to continue detecting me after death. i thought it was a mod but i am now convinced it is caused by the ignore armor part of master sneaking. can anyone tell me how the ignore armor part of master sneak aatck is implemneted so i can remove it?

According to the creator of ascension its a vanilla engine bug. When i kill an enemy with a sneak attack they fall down i cant loot them the battle music continues and i am considered in combat still. I have to reload or get several cells away to get out of combat. Will post load order tomorrow. Only started happening at master sneak.only seems to happen if its just barely enough damage to kill them.the only mod i have that affects sneak attack was ascension and i removed all game setting changes that affected sneak from it with tes4 edit

I've never heard of it and I've sneaked attacked and one-shot killed many. Mods that add extra combat moves or fancy spells have to kill enemies via scripting and they usually don't take all the factors into account. I get complaints all the time because players don't get credit for the kills and therefore don't get experience points when using Oblivion XP, so I'm quite familiar with the game mechanics in this regard.

In fact this was discussed in Ascension's comment section (precisely by sancrain on 25th August 2023), but except showing steps to reproduce this bug, no exact cuplrit or solution was found. For me it's looking like precision error when comparing float numbers and I personally experienced that condition in a script gave a wrong result when comparing a float variable against a given float number. A discussion suggested to lower back all changed sneak attack multipliers (I would rather remove these edits completely). Regarding perks I think they are hard-coded, so I would try to lower sneak skill back to 99 by executing SetAV command (player.SetAV Sneak 99) in console and observe a result.

Oblivion definitely doesn't handle floats very well. I've seen some instances where vanilla values result in NAN (not a number) in the tools we have for editing. It would appear that the data types were doubles in the original Gamebyro engine but are only floats in the CS. You'll see this a lot if you start looking at the heights in the region editor.

Armour rating is a decimal number in the CS, but is actually stored as a short.
