Blocked input at save game load... (if main menu video is replaced...)

Hello!

I have noticed that with “Main Menu Replacer” the video seems to block the input when a dialog opens.
At first I thought it was due to my FallUI installation, but there wasn't the actual problem. Above all, it happens with every replacer that inserts a new video for the main menu.
So I tried around and created a video myself (RAD's Tools). As soon as a video other than the original main menu video is installed and e.g. a warning dialog appears when loading a save game (e.g. because you have deactivated a mod that is saved in this save game...), the dialog appears, but neither mouse nor keyboard work. So you are stuck in the dialog and have to close the game.
As soon as I rename the video (rename extension) and it is not loaded, everything works perfectly again.
I am currently trying to find out where this input block is coming from. The original video is “Bink 2.2” and as a replacement you can only use “Bink 1”. Could this be because FO4 does not like this?

Does anyone have any ideas?

Alternatively, the only possible workaround would be to switch off the warning messages. Is this possible?

I am grateful for any help!

Hello!
Thanks for the link, but that doesn't solve the problem for me!
I have already installed "FallUI Confirm Boxes". When I use this, the warning dialog is completely overlaid by the video and is not visible at all!
The actual problem remains, I cannot continue with mouse or keyboard!

The basic problem seems to be the same or similar! But apparently nobody has found a solution yet.

The only workaround I have found so far is to temporarily rename the video, start the game, confirm the dialog, load the game, save briefly and then quit again and rename the video back.
Unfortunately, it's all very cumbersome, so I had to uninstall "Main Menu Replacers" for the time being. The mod authors don't seem to care about this problem!

Wow, I never thought of that. The Main Menu Replacer!

And I always thought it was just the NG update from Bethesda and an update of F4SE would be enough.

I copied my replacer in without VORTEX (ages ago, 2-3 years?), let's see if I can find the original author.

Thanks for the note/info. The modding community probably needs to be made aware that even simple video replacers need a fix.

At least that's what I found out during my tests. Without the Replacer videos (I created one myself with RAD's tools) it runs without any problems.
But there is no solution. And why doesn't this happen with the original video? Why only with Replacer videos, which are all "Bink 1".
Actually, the video should not block the input. So it must be something else around it. The "Main Menu Replacers" only replace the standard video and create a corresponding music file in .XWM format (or .WAV, if .XWM causes problems...). That's all these replacers do. So I don't understand why this blocks the input. It must be something else.
But you can test it. Simply rename the replacement video and start the game. You will no longer be blocked...

  • 2 weeks later...

I have some videos in my queue from a mod who randomly shows me the SPECIAL videos/ads.

A few days ago the "Address Library" and "xSE PluginPreloader F4" was updated to 1.10.984 and has been working perfectly since then (also other mods).
