Rhonail
Hi. Since I often switch from pc to laptop, I figured I would keep my Steam games and my Vortex games in an external hard disk. The result was not as expected. 1) Whenever I plug the external hard disk to a different computer, the drive letter (:A, :C, etc.) changes and Vortex notifies that there is no valid uninstall path, so I have to install Vortex anew. 2) When setting the staging and download folder to the existant ones on the external hard disk, Vortex says that it will take over the instance. What does it mean concretely? 3) The mods are all messed up. Some appear as never installed, some appear as disabled, etc.. 4) At some point, Vortex starts to give a long list (not all my mods, but several) of apparently redundant mods. The point of my thread is: Is it possible at all to store the Vortex folders (along with the Steam game) on an external hard disk and run everything from different computers? How to do it without errors? Thank you.
