How to create a new material

Hi all. Now I'm trying to create a new item, but I can't create a new unique material for it. All I found was Starfield Material Exporter, but either I’m not using it correctly, or it doesn’t work after Creation Kit game update. Can someone tell me how to work with materials now?

use betehsda archive extractor to extract Starfield - Materials in Data folder. Copy Paste one of these exported materials and use it as your own (put it into corresponding folder in Starfield data directory).

Its important to have following line in CreationKitCustom.ini (located in the main SF directory)

 

[Materials]

bUseCompiledDB=0

 

Without this line, the CK will not allow you to edit your material, just view it

Is this something that's changed since the June 10th update?  The only thing I'm seeing in the Starfield - Material.BA2 is the materialsbeta.cdb, no different than the last time I opened it 6 months ago or more.

What you're describing is how it works for FO4, but I wasn't aware they'd adopted the same system for Starfield.

 

Edit: Never mind, I just saw the thing about extracting the ContentResources.zip from the Tools directory into the data folder.
