AI/Machine Learning/Deep Learning in MODs

Hello, everyone.

I have been studying artificial intelligence since last year, mainly deep learning. Due to some personal problems, I had to take some time away from studies, but I'm returning now.
I thought about combining two things that I like to motivate me to study more, which in this case are AI and Fallout.
However, I can't imagine how to reconcile the two areas, although in games in general this is immensely possible.
I say that, due to the game's release time and the engine of its time used for its development, it may prevent the creation of something that is more believable.
One area that I see more possibility is in the AI of NPCs, but I really don't even know where to start. Games was not an area that I focused on at any time, as I really liked other, very different segments.
