Fallout 4: Invisible Imports

I'm currently trying to create my first mod for Fallout 4. I want to implement a wearable shield that hovers in front of the player in the direction they're looking. At the moment, I've found a placeholder mesh from the game's base mesh files which I've extracted with B.A.E. I then cleaned the mesh with NifScope, and imported into Outfit Studio where I scaled it in relation to the maleBody.nif. I then exported it as a nif, and created the armor and armoraddon objects in the Creation Kit, referencing the nif file. I can find my shield armor ingame, and it gives the player the proper stats allocated in Creation Kit (ie. 100 extra armor) but the mesh is invisible. I had it as an FX biped which was completely invisible, and then I made it a body biped which makes the player character invisible and look like Rayman. Any help from more experienced modders would greatly be appreciated.
