Possible Fixes for Existing Game Being Unable to Load due to Missing Mods

Hello everyone! If you're searching through to find out why your mods are loading/are told are missing here's something I did that helped + some good links to guides and tutorials.

1st (and most simplest): (for BG3ModManager)

Before running the game make sure you:

  1. put all your desired mods you want active into the 'active mods' section

  2. refresh the ModManager using either the F5 button or the refresh logo on the top bar to the left of the 'Shortcuts' button

  3. Make sure that your mods haven't mods from the active to the inactive section

  4. Now, go into File>Export Order to Game or 'Ctrl + E'

  5. Refresh again (just in case)

  6. Launch the game

2nd method:

This discussion is super helpful! A little complicated, but still helpful--
(there is a step-by-step close to the end.)

Keynote: it's a little complicated but if you're used to modding it's not too bad, just a couple of file deleting and copying...

A great note Drake makes is that sometimes missing mods are due to a broken mod within the files which causes it to disable all mods.

2nd Method:
There is also this Reddit post that has a step-by-step:

https://www.reddit.com/r/BaldursGate3/comments/188xbmp/fix_for_saves_not_loading_with_missing_mods/

Final Step (that worked for me):
People who have downloaded Show Approval Ratings look here!! (This might help!)

  1. I unloaded/deleted all my mods from the 'mods' file in the BG3 directory (Where all the games files are)

  2. I made a copy of all of them of course!!

  3. Then I went into my desired playthrough and listed off all the mods that it said were missing,

  4. I then moved those mods back into the BG3ModManager and did Method 1 as written above.

  5. Then I quit the game, re-launched it, and saw that one mod was still missing (Show Approval Ratings, for anyone interested)

  6. I then looked through to see if there were any bugs with that mod... turns out they were with the most recent version, so I just went back a version and it began to work again.

Hopefully one of these three methods will help some poor sod out there : )
