Dustmo7e
Hi! How are aspens retextured in Skyrim CK (or is it even possible?) ? I have aspen branches in my unpacked skyrim texture files but there are no texturesets for tree braches (that I could find) in CK. Only the tree bark. Also, when I click on the tree, I only get the window that prompts me to upload a model for the tree. All this has me STUMPED... I tried to search for tree retexturing tutorials but I couldn't find them. Is retexturing a tree the same as retexturing a weapon? I have never tried to do that, so I don't know. If you know a good tutorial about tree textures, could you drop me link, please?
Hanaisse
Retexturing a tree would be no different than retexturing a weapon or armor or anything else. Open the .nif file in NifSkope to find what texture file it uses. In this case; textures\landscape\trees\TreeAspenBranchComp.dds is the leaves and textures\landscape\trees\TreeAspenBarkComp.dds is the bark of the tree Once you change those files just replace them back into your game folder in that exact file path. xkkmEl
If you do not find these files in your data directory, it's because they are hiden inside a bsa: "Skyrim - Textures.bsa" Your mod manager should allow you to extract the files. Just modify them as you need and put them back in your data folder in the directory indicated by Hanaisse. Loose files (outside a bsa) will take precedence over the original file in the bsa. No need to put them back in the bsa or create a new one.
Dustmo7e
OK! Thank you both. That doesn't sound so hard. I have extracted the files way back when and I saved them to an external drive back then. I figured I could always just take what I needed from there.
