I wanted to take a stab at updating an old mod with a slight error. Hit a firm dead end. The issue is with the mesh, and I don't know the first thing about modifying meshes

Started with this mod here - the Vintage Power Armor.

Within the game, there is a portion of the armor that appears to be an almost inverted white, or some sort of high-contrast grayscale. Outside of interiors, the white/gray part seems to glow - but I didn't get a screenshot of that.

Just to make sure this issue wasn't caused by some other mod, I deactivated everything and left the vintage armor mod active. And...

This mod utilizes textures made for another mod called BoS DX (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/5830?tab=description) - which is a total replacer rather than a mod that adds standalone armor. If you look at the files for this mod, it seems the mod author addressed the inconsistent mesh/glowing issue. Just out of curiosity, I pasted the meshes from his fix zip into the vintage power armor data folder...and...the entire armor set turned into the white/gray color.

AND...as stated in the title...I've hit a dead end. I don't know the first thing about editing mesh files, and loading everything into nifskope is pointless for me because the model appears to be perfectly fine within that program. There's nothing that immediately stands out to suggest there is an issue with the mesh. And so...here I am, aimlessly rambling in the hopes that I can finally tackle this problem I've ignored for almost 8 years.

must make one more post before I pause on this little goal...it occurred to me that maybe only the player model was affected by this error, so I applied the armor to a random NPC. And it does appear to be the case. When added to an NPC, the armor appears as it is meant to be with no errors.
