Unfortunately a lot of animations break after force enabling the third person body. There doesn't seem to be any way to solve it without recreating the animations.

To add to this, previous immersive first person addons for Skyrim have opted to take the 'third person only' route for providing both the body and the arms, as opposed to keeping the first person animations alongside it -- you'll notice in those skyrim mods that there are options to 'disable first person arms' and use solely the third person body and arms, this alternate approach is no small undertaking as well, since there are numerous first person states and animations that will actively need to be suppressed and handled for each camera event, as well as for each camera state, in order to achieve this approach and not break the camera view; a lot of work that I simply do not have the bandwidth to give at this moment in time -- If anyone is able to reach out to one of the original authors of the immersive first person addons for skyrim you could potentially persuade one of them to consider porting a starfield version of their mod, as doing so would probably be the lowest hanging fruit since they would be the most familiar with developing a mod that follows the strategy I just mentioned.

Since this has garnered so much attention, and seems to have a lot of support behind it, I think we should consider putting together a mod bounty with which to incentivize fellow mod developers to work on this.  I'm not sure what nexus mod rules are surrounding this, so I hesitate to create any go fund me page, but if the rules allow it I think the only thing that might get any movement on this mod request is to start crowd funding it through a trusted patreon.  Please feel free to share your thoughts on that, and I would be happy to contribute donations towards any bounty/patreon/fund that's put together in the name of this mod request.

The Oblivion Remastered version uses a zoomed 3rd person view, placing he camera right on the forehead and then making the head invisible, thater than trying to do anything clever with the first person camera. Maybe that's the approach?

This is essentially what Skyrim's immersive first person mod does, and was the developmental approach I proposed here for Starfield (the approach that I believe is the first step in accomplishing this mod).  But as we've already mentioned, there are numerous obstacles we have to account for when taking this approach in Starfield specifically -- Simply zooming the third-person camera is not enough, the view either becomes broken or clipped if we do not suppress the dozens of first-person camera states that will naturally try to over-take.

If you browse through the Skyrim immersive first person mod's source files you will quickly learn that it was no small feat to suppress all of the first-person camera states for Skyrim's mod either.

I do still believe this is going to be the most simple approach in order to make this mod a reality, and using the Skyrim immersive first person mod as a reference would be a good start, but as it stands we still don't have all of the Starfield first-person states well documented and we also do not have all of the possible camera-transitioning events accounted for either.
