Ttw traveling between the wastelands

It never sat right with me having a train be the way going to and from DC and Vegas. I mean it makes sense but I don't see a train (or the tracks) being that intact all the way to Vegas.

Simply id like to add a few stops between the locations, nothing too big, just like a single city or small town after the train stops in...idk kentucky. Then caravan from Kentucky to Oklahoma, walk from Oklahoma to Nevada, or something along the lines.

This would feel more realistic for the first time traveling between the wasteland and gives us a chance to explore a very small part of the country
