Very Strange Problems with Adding Creatures in Creation Kit

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm currently trying to put together a mod that will add a creature to the game (it's just a slight variaton of the elk).

Set up skeleton fine, race data and all that is fine - problem is when I actually drag it into the render window I just get an empty hitbox.

Now I've seen this problem before, and know there can often be problems with the skeleton. To test for that, I took the existing Elk race and gave them my modified skeleton, then dragged an instance of encElk over to the render window. Showed up just fine, so I know the skeleton itself isn't the problem.

To test for if I had made any other changes I opened up ElkRace and added a 2 to the end, so now I have two identical files, both with my modified skeleton, one called ElkRace and one called ElkRace2.

I took the encElk with its race set to ElkRace and dragged it in to render, it showed up just fine. I opened up encElk and set it to ElkRace2 (which, as I said, is identical in every respect but the name) and dragged it over to render just to get an empty hit box!

Given that the two race files are identical, I can only assume the problem is the ID itself, but I'm completely at a loss as to where that problem would be. Also I'm getting tired of saying the word "elk". Anyone have any idea what might be happening?

EDIT:

I don't know why I always figure out the answer minutes after I finally get desparate enough to post. Maybe I should just post immediately from now on. Anyway, for anyone else who runs into this issue - You don't seem to be able to use a duplicate race unless you ALSO fill in the 'Morphs race' and 'armor race' fields on the duplicate with details from the original.
