Modding Noob, unable to create a working story error.

Hello! I'm usually a console player (ps5) but I decided to purchase this game again on PC just to experience it in a new way with mods! I researched for days, what mods to get, load order, mod fixer, bg3mm, how to get rid of the "stuck on loading profiles' bug. A lot of the information I've been finding has been random forum topics here, reddit, bg3 forum. I ordered them based on the information in the mod details (if applicable) and based on info I found through research. I was sure I had it right so I booted the game, found more stuff I liked on their mod platform, so I downloaded them. Exited the game, deleted that pesky lsx so mm would load, reordered them. exported the load. Started it up again. So I haven't been able to play yet because I can't even get to the first cut or create a tav. First I got an error that said it couldn't start a new game because of mods. I deleted mod fixer after doing some research that told me it was no longer needed after patch 7. Booted up again thinking that was the issue but now I'm getting an error that says "unable to create a working story". All the research I'm finding on this says just to ignore it, I would, but it says this and takes me right back to the start screen to push new game again, having never starting a game. Attaching my load order! Any help would be appreciated. I was SO EXCITED to play this with mods after playing vanilla on my console for a year! I love the game and I am really looking forward to exploring this new side of it once this is all sorted.

As a PS5 player are you using a controller to play  BG3 on  your PC? I also use a controller and had all sorts of mod problems with my current games (several in parallel) after patch 7. Try starting a new game with mouse and keyboard only and then switch to controller after you've made your first save.

Well, your BG3MM needs to be updated. The latest version does not have honor or dice 6 in the inactives.

Also I see lots of errors on the load order.

I am seeing that the basket full of equipment mod has the mod fixer imbedded into the code. This will need to be removed.

How to remove mod fixer from mods.

Gonna teach you guys how to fish ... Credit to Kestralys on Nexus

1. Download Baldur's Gate 3 Modder's Multitool and follow instructions for setup.

https://github.com/ShinyHobo/BG3-Modders-Multitool

2. Open (the Mod you're working on) zip folder and drop (the Mod you're working on) onto Multitool workspace.

3. Open unpacked (the Mod you're working on) folder and navigate to Mods\(the Mod you're working on).

4. Delete Story folder which has the remove ForceRecompile.txt file inside.

5. Drop edited (the Mod you're working on) folder onto Multitool workspace to repack.

6. Depending on how you set up Multitool, it will either:

A. create a new zipped folder of (the Mod you're working on), now without Mod Fixer, that you can install, or
B. place the repacked .pak file directly into your mods folder.

7. Be sure and save, then export load order.

You can now remove mod fixer from other mods that have it as well. Have fun catching fish on your own now 🙂
