Looking for resources to learn modding: Coral Island

Long story short, I would like to create some aesthetic mods for Coral Island and have no idea where to start. If anyone has a good Youtube video or site that explains how to get started I would appreciate it. 

My modding knowledge is pretty beginner so please talk to me like I'm a grade schooler

Hey! I've made some recolours for Coral Island and was planning on working on a video to show the process. There's been a few people mention/ask for a guide, so I'll bump this up the pipeline!
