Replaced the addIns.xml file by mistake

I was following up on a guide that had me replace the aforementioned file. Unfortunately, a warning about mod re-installation was buried elsewhere within the guide, and thus I did not copy the lines over to the new file. Is there an efficient method to re-enable installed mods?

I remember having a similar issue once, and unfortunately, the best working way to fix it for me, was to reinstall the dazips once again, that way you'll be certain the addins.xml is properly "rebuilt" and the campaigns/mods show up correctly in the game. And always remember to make a backup of such important file if you have to change or replace it, the file is only kb in size but its restoring value in case something goes wrong, is invaluable.

I don't know if that's efficient enough for you, but it works and installing dazips is quick, you just need to redownload the mods again, it worked for me that one time. If someone has a quicker way, go ahead and try it, the most important thing is that the addons show correctly in the game's menu.

I'm not sure what kind of "guide" you were following or why it would have you "replace" the addins.xml file - but that file is used to identify all of the content beyond vanilla DAO that your game can utilize.  That includes DLC as well as many mods.

If your copy of DAO includes any DLC, the best way to restore your addins.xml file is to start by uninstalling, deleting associated sub-directories, and reinstalling the game.  That will build the addins.xml file to include the DLC you are licensed to use.

Once you've done that, you should start the game and make sure the initial installation works before installing mods.  Then I would suggest you make the game large address aware (4GB LAA patch), and then proceed to install other mods of interest per the author's instructions.

Good luck.
