Vanilla complexions (male freckles) suddenly not showing on characters; no complexion mods used (DAIMod)

I am stumped and hope someone can help me. Not sure where the conflict is between the game files and mods:

I recently started playing the game after a longish break and my mod list, while a bit long, was unchanged from before until this morning. A few of the mods didn't work until I refreshed the list, since it had been a long while. But then everything was back as before and no problems with gameplay, visuals, story, etc. I was able to play with the vanilla freckles showing up just fine on all my characters, no problems. My mesh and texture settings are on Ultra, most other graphics settings on medium. In this mod list that I've maintained for a long time, I have quite a few hair texture mods and a few clothing/body shape mods, but no complexion or face mods at all. As for my characters, I had a freckled qunari male inquisitor and a freckled human male warrior, in addition to some other male and female inquisitors, and I can verify that the human at least had vanilla freckles on his face until this morning. (I haven't loaded in my qunari inky yet, and now I'm afraid to.)

The only three changes I made to my mod list were two modules from the Multi-Romance mod (Cullen and Solas) and the Full Charge Spirit Blade. I don't think these touch the complexions at all, so I don't see how they could have caused the problem. But just in case, I have since removed those three mods, and then I refreshed and re-merged my mod list. That didn't help, as the freckles still didn't show up. I didn't want to try loading my qunari inky, but I tried creating one, and the complexion slider just had empty slots (sliding it across literally had zero changes for several clicks until it suddenly changed, so the game seemed to be missing textures that should be there).  Since then, I went into Steam and verified game files before re-applying my mod list. That still didn't fix the problem; the textures are still missing. When I go into character creation: female freckles show up, but human, elf, dwarf, and qunari male freckles don't show up at all. The texture are somehow missing.

Could someone help me figure out what happened, or how I figure out from DAIMod Loader where to find which mod is causing the issue? Or do I just need to uninstall and reinstall the whole game again? I thought verifying game files would re-install missing game files (textures), but I guess it doesn't?

(I'm sorry for the long post. Thanks to anyone who can help me. Btw, I'm not blaming those mod makers or those mods! They don't touch the complexions, I'm sure! I just think something else went wrong, and I need to figure out where it happened. Thank you!)
