Working on french translation

Hello, I turn to you and kindly request your help, if possible. In short, all I'm asking for is some guidance and technical advice.

I am currently working on translating the "Stalker Lost Alpha Enhanced Edition" mod into French (as it is only available in Russian and English). I am not a professional; in other words, I am neither a modder nor knowledgeable about the technical details of video game translation.

So, I need some information, please! I have already completed translating the files in the Text folder (game\config\text\eng), but now I don’t know if there are other files in other folders that also need to be translated. If so, which ones?

Here are my main questions:

1. First question: the XML files I translated were saved with UTF-8 encoding. Should I change their encoding to Cyrillic (Windows 1251)?
2. Does the X-Ray Engine support UTF-8 encoding?
3. Apart from the files in the Text folder, what other files should I translate, and in which directories can I find them?
4. I have asked for help in several forums, but no one has replied.
5. Everything depends on this translation project for me. If I manage to finish it, I will probably start another project. It’s not ambition or motivation that I lack, but technical knowledge.
