(Request or Advice) Anyone know of a mod or a way to prevent the awful glitched blood spatter on Geralt?

Recommended Posts

This has been driving me nuts. Taking damage in game results in a big ugly low res glitched blood spatter texture front and center on Geralt's torso (see attached image). Maybe I'm not searching the right way but I can't find any mod or information on how to turn this off altogether. Anyone know?

(I tried changing the DecalChance modifier in the user.settings file but that didn't fix the problem. I'm not very knowledgeable about creating mods or editing files lol)

Does that happen in the vanilla game? I don't remember such thing. It looks to me like you use some blood mode, don't you? Check your mod folder.

I wish it was that easy haha,  I don’t use any blood mods, and I did experience this in vanilla as well.

It's strange, there are mods that allow blood splatters on Geralt and enemies, but in the unmodded there is very little blood anywhere during combat, let alone blood on the main character. Maybe it has something to do with the armour mod, it looks like you're using Dirty Manticore or something like that, right? Dirty Manticore at The Witcher 3 Nexus - Mods. I went to the mod's page to see if there are some comments about it, and well, there is a user who talks about artifacts on the armour, There has to be a reason you have that issue of yours.

I believe the artifacts are referring to some small patches on the leather pieces that are oversaturated- I also know for a fact that it’s not just this armor, because on my last unmodded play through I encountered the same thing while exclusively wearing the vanilla grandmaster cat armor. The blood seems to get applied to Geralt when taking damage as well as after killing enemies.

It really sounds like work of some blood mod, I've never seen my character get bloodied in the vanilla game, that's the reason there are quite a few such mods out there - the vanilla has very little blood. You're saying you had that before with another armour... Very strange, I wish I could help more, but I really don't know what can be causing it.

Yeah, I really don’t know the cause. I just looked through all my mods and game files again to see if by any chance I missed an extra blood overhaul mod or something but came up empty handed. I was under the impression that this blood spatter was added when they updated for next gen and added extra effects. So you’re saying you’ve never seen this on your side?

Heh, I don't think they added anything like it in the Next-Gen updates, I can show you the blood mods for that version, that are still needed for the blood splatter on the main character or enemies. Yeah, I never have, I also don't use a mod that adds splatters on characters, so when it comes to this 'feature', my game's like the vanilla. And I'm quite sure the screenshot you posted, looks like one of the mods, the fact you don't have such mods installed, makes it even more bizarre 🙂 .

I think the only reasonable explanation at this point is that my game is cursed lol

It might be, if it's a curse, then a witcher would be handy, that's why I am here  😄🗡️. The effect is, as you noticed, of a rather low quality, I've looked through the blood mods, and if you had one of them, it would look much better. I'm more inclined to think that it's something with the game, it shows textures on the armour, that shouldn't be shown, it really is like a curse.
