Can't launch game after modding using Vortex (Premium), new to modding, please help!

Recommended Posts

I downloaded the Ultimate Mod List as it seems to be updated regularly and fairly well received. Did it all through Vortex as a premium member to make my life a bit easier.

Went well for a bit but I wanted to remove some mods I wasn't agreeing with and add some others that seemed cool.

Did that a couple of times but suddenly the game failed to compile scripts properly. I ran script merger a number of times (no conflicts), re-verified the game files etc. But now I'm out of my depth.

I've attached the error messages that I'm getting. I'm hoping somebody is willing to get me out of this mess please.

How many mods do you have installed after personalising the list by yourself? I would suggest installing them manually and solving the Script Merger conflicts then. Also, check if all the mods you're using are compatible with your current game version, it might be you added one that is incompatible. But don't worry, all can be fixed.

I completely re-installed the game and started from scratch with the modpack. I missed an important step in the installation, and it runs well now. However, the creator of the modpack has said not to add any additional mods on top of the collection which is a bit disappointing as there are definitely others I'd like to include. But I'm terrified I'll have to start all over again if I tinker with it at all.

If it works now - it's good, don't remove or add any mods, if the mod list's creator, themselves, had written not to. But you have the right not to use only the mods someone else compiled - that's why I encourage to create your own 'list' - browse through Nexus and find mods you like, reading the descriptions about compatibilities and carefully merging conflicts in Script Merger. And if you do it manually, without relying on Vortex or any manager - you'll get very comfortable with tinkering and installing mods for this game, in general.

But if you use a collection, stick to it, it'll be safest, the more the mods, the bigger chance of an eventual conflict between them, also remember the game has a mod limit, even the NG version, which can be increased with mods, but not infinitely. Good luck to you.
