Sirandar888
Lots of people on-line say upgrading a CP version is simple and so few mods are affected and that you are ungrateful questioning the value of CP patches. But just how painful is it to update? The 2.2 update dropped on Dec 10 and I updated Dec 16 ..... and I consider this the bare minimum wait time as some core mods have gone though a few revisions after the first 2.2 update and many mods won't be updated yet. There were 51 mods in my load order that absolutely needed a 2.2 update, and I try to minimize these types of mods ..... 51 is not a small number and then there is the time required to identify which mods need an update and download them. I use Mods Organizer 2 for my CP install and really couldn't imagine doing all this manually. It took about 2 hours of very careful work to uninstall the old 2.13 dependent mods and install their 2.2 replacements even with Mod Organizer 2 and knowing how each mod needed to be installed. When I ran CP 2.2 for the first time surprisingly it didn't crash, but it did crash loading my current save. I knew what the problem was ..... I was in the Aldecado Camp and 2.2 broke the Improved Aldecado Camp mod .... Updating almost always breaks every single home and location mod. and often they don't get updated. Went back to a save just before the camp and it loaded properly. How would people know to do this unless they already know .... ? Patch 2.2 seems to be stable on my system and doesn't cause FPS issues .... but it will take a week of playing to actually know this. But at least 2.2 runs and has some interesting features ..... I have had update experiences that made me quit playing a game
Sirandar888
In terms of the actual 2.2 update ... It seems to me the update is really four or five AAA Nexus quality mods ... And I really can't think of any reason why it couldn't have been released that way to the PC other than top down controlled updates to the game (except where the bug fixes but deceptuous has fixed a lot of them without a game update) But four or five top quality mods is not something to be smeared at. In terms of vehicles, it seems that everything that patch 2.2 is has been done way. Way better by modders, but scanning and downloading paint jobs is kind of interesting. Patch 2.2 basically just takes deceptious mod The Passenger and just copies it. It seems that deceptuous has decided to make wine instead of vinegar has released their own mod to make the 2.2 version of the passenger bearable. Patch 2.2 also added some vehicles, but I'm pretty sure Ahmad has already added those and hundreds of fantastic vehicles for the game ... And when using Nova traffic, you can make these custom vehicles appear as part of the normal traffic. So in terms of vehicles patch 2.2 doesn't seem to add much and the ability to evade police by changing your paint job right in front of them is kind of silly in my opinion. Maybe somebody will make a mod so that you have to be a certain distance away before you can fool the police. In terms of character customization, more options are always welcome and it seems The modding community has already adapted to it and leveraged it to make their own mods better. But again, 2.2 is nothing compared to what the modding community has already done. For me it's the photo mode changes in 2.2. that's most welcome because I tried amm and although it's a work of art, it just adds too many variables to the game in terms of stability so I don't use it. So the new photo mode is very welcome even though I don't use it much. However, I do find that the ability to display your own pictures in your homes is a fantastic option and that is worth the price of 2.2 right there. There are also quest fixes in 2.2 and in my opinion these are the only improvement that should come by game updates, and the rest should be straight mods so they compete one to one with the work of modders. Perhaps the most welcome fix is the corrections to the trauma team AV on the top of the roof in the quest that involves mind control. I snuck my way up there and when I got there I just had to say WTF..... Hopefully it got picked properly .... Too bad they didn't expand on that quest in patch 2.2 because it's one of the best in the game.
