mebme
Hello, I would like to propose a mod where every 2 years during Winter, (the first election would then be in the end of Year 2). If the player has 8 hearts with everyone, they can become the next mayor. Alternatively, if they have finished the community center, they only need 6 hearts with everybody. If those conditions are not met, Lewis always wins, but there may be 1-2 challengers (maybe Robin, Morris, Pierre, Gunther, basically only people would would have an interest in being mayor). If you are elected mayor, you now have extra items added to your journal involving collecting taxes from all the businesses once per season, passing certain ordinances, planning the events in the town, as well as some additional permanent upgrades to Pelican Town, which would come at a cost. There could be some additional actions with the Governor (and maybe even some additional lore and dialogue to build the Governor's character). You could maybe even pass 1 new holiday any day of the year, which basically just makes the town take the day off (everyone except JojaMart, of course). As mayor, there could be additional dialogue with the townspeople (i.e., people scheduling meetings with you or airing their grievances - these could be done as radiant quests that just add a little extra to the mayor role). Of course, the player could run every year, or choose not to run if they wish to no longer be the mayor. The season leading up to the election, the town can have signs out in front of their house to indicate who they intend on voting for (and you can change their mind if you reach the required number of hearts with that household). Finally, if you are elected mayor and went the Joja route, you may get some additional pressure from JojaCorp to pass some favorable policies to them. It's an ambitious idea, but would add a whole new aspect to the game that I think people would really enjoy.
