anjenthedog
bUse64bitsHDRRenderTarget is a setting in skyrimprefs.ini and is defined as Quote bUse64bitsHDRRenderTarget toggles 64-bit render targets. Disabling this can cause a significant performance boost. It is a more precise method of rendering that can reduce banding in some cases. It can also significantly change the color of the image. It is recommended to be enabled. Default is 0. Recommended is 1. ref: https://stepmodifications.org/wiki/SkyrimSE:SkyrimPrefs_INI/Display#bUse64bitsHDRRenderTarget In my ~2-3 week old installation of 1.6.1170, the setting was disabled by default Is this computation within the CPU space or GPU space? Or that is, is any associated memory "expansion" needs (64 bit requires more than 32-bit) covered by memory managed by the CPU, or by the GPU? If the former, then I don't care, since I have beau coup (64G) system memory, but if on the GPU's bus, then maybe not so wise for me, what with my paltry video card (6G) which already struggles a bit with my expectations... Or maybe it doesn't matter? Idk.
anjenthedog
Petulantly impatient bump. I canna be the only one who thinks about this stuff. Point is, not sure if the game examined my setup on installation and disabled this setting on purpose, or it just ships with the setting disabled and presumes the user will know what to do... do others set it to enabled? (which the description suggested is the "right setting", even though perplexingly enough, they also say "performance is boosted when it's turned off".
