Since the intorduction of Subnautica 2.0, there has been a bug on aurora decals where they will have a black shadow behind them the bug is also present on the crates (usually the ones that are hollow) and lifepods (the crates and lifepods shadow issues seems to be based from distance) it seems that it is present in the medium and high graphic presets but not low

images below show difference between high and low and are taken at the same distance

I've never seen this on the "Legacy" versions or in version 2.0. This must be on your end, probably a bug with a mod or a component...

I'll investigate this and get back to you this weekend.

EDIT : Problem found...

Hello,

The issue of black shadows appearing behind decals on the Aurora, crates, and lifepods in Subnautica 2.0 has been reported by several players. This bug seems to occur mainly with medium and high graphic presets, while it is absent on low settings.

Currently, there is no official fix for this problem. However, while waiting for an update from the developers, you can try the following solutions:

  • Adjust graphics settings: Lowering the graphics settings to a lower level may reduce or eliminate the issue.

  • Verify game file integrity: If you're playing on Steam, you can use the "Verify Integrity of Game Files" option to ensure all files are intact.

  • Update graphics drivers: Make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date, as outdated drivers can cause display issues.

If these solutions do not resolve the problem, it is recommended to report the bug to the developers via the official forums or the platform where you purchased the game. This may help speed up a fix in a future update.

Enjoy your game and happy underwater exploration!
