ASentientJDAM Posted April 26 Posted April 26 Lumen has massive performance problems, and a whole host of visual artifacts to boot. Screen space reflections reflect things they shouldn't, scenes are dark when Lumen doesn't have a previous frame to reference, and there's blocky artifacting whenever something renders in front of one of the moons. I don't know if it's possible to force UE5 to use its traditional raster rendering engine, (or if it'd look right) but I think it's worth looking into.
ASentientJDAM Posted April 26 Author Posted April 26 I did a bit of tinkering in Unreal Engine, and noticed that it has an option to use Lumen for reflections, instead of screen space reflections. You can find this under Edit -> Project Settings -> Engine -> Rendering -> Reflections. It won't fix Lumen's other issues, but at the very least it doesn't have the same reflection artifacts that screen space rendering does.
