AsimovHD
Similar to how we are able to hide/blur mods tagged as Adult Content using the Content Blocking page in our account settings, mod authors should be required to disclose if AI was used for the thumbnail so the mod can be filtered by our content blocking settings. It looks like you can filter out content using tags on the content blocking page, but it's not required by mod developers to tag their mod as such so it's not that useful. Thinking of something similar to Steam's policy for AI: Quote First, we are updating the Content Survey that developers fill out when submitting to Steam. The survey now includes a new AI disclosure section, where you'll need to describe how you are using AI in the development and execution of your game... Valve will use this disclosure in our review of your game prior to release. We will also include much of your disclosure on the Steam store page for your game, so customers can also understand how the game uses AI. 6
Ghostly
I've been complaining to friends about the onslaught of AI thumbnails for awhile. I think an alternative option might be some kind of auto generated thumbnail for authors that puts text on a background since a lot of creators just put the title in an image for the thumbnail anyway. 2

Good idea, I'd rather they just use text on a background as the thumbnail but I think the people choosing to use AI generated thumbnails will still do what they're doing. Whether intentional or not, I feel it's puffery or clickbait. This isn't true for all mods with AI thumbnails, but yes, it can be misleading to users. Nexus' Best Practices for Mod Authors specifically recommends this when you can't get a screenshot from in-game to use as a thumbnail for your mod, although they don't mention AI. Are the thumbs somehow misrepresenting the mod in question? In what way are the images 'misleading'??
JimboUK
If an image is misleading then I can see where there would be a problem, but many mods can't be represented visually and there's nothing wrong with using AI for their thumbnails.

Ok, but, that doesn't necessarily imply AI was used....... Pics/Thumbs that have nothing to do with the mod in question shouldn't be posted on the page in any event. Doesn't matter how it was created.

It may not matter to you, but I just want to specifically block mods with AI generated thumbnails.
