For the amount of content in this game the cap of 100 in skill and attributes is stupid i was hoping they going to fix this.  40 hours in and my character is as powerful as they are going to get(without all the silly exploity crap) so i see no point in continuing. Really sucks cause i love this game and was really stoked about this remaster and bought it immediately after they announced it. Almost seems like i created my class too well or i cleared dungeons too efficiently i used the av uncapper when i had this issue with the old game but then i ran into an bug with sneak attack where i would one shot them but combat would continue and i couldnt loot them. Gonna try again when somebody makes a new uncapper but then there will be an issue of the enemies being too easy. Seems like they didnt consider that some people will try to do every dungeon when they created their leveling system.

I like role playing games better with multiple playthroughs. What, my one character is going to be master of the fighters guild, mages guild, thieves guild, dark brotherhood, and save the world? That's at least 5 different characters right there. My last fallout 4 run I made a defective synth character with an intelligence of 1 that couldn't figure out guns and had to always have a companion with him to tell him what to do. And then act like he would in a given situation. Great fun, recommend.

But yeah, the balancing needs work. The difficulty settings go from "you're barely playing a game" (because everything just dies when you look at it) to "you're barely playing a game" (because everything just insta-kills you), and not as a result from the static levelling, but within the same level, by adjusting it in game options.

Yeah I mean how is this even a thing you should at least be able to get to 100

That would really seperate the men from the boys.

I remember the single coolest thing about playing skyrim was the fact that after a playthrough you could compare your guy with the guy your buddy made and then argue about who would kick who's ass. But with this cap you can't really have that

super effed up bro for the hardcore grindkings

I bet €1 that mods will show up that fixes the leveling system, both skill and exp versions really.  😉  There are 3 different ones for the Oldblivion,  😉 what I recall.

By the way, @That1guy1121until new leveling mods will be available, there are options. First, leveling is not everything, it is not a goal in it self.  😉

We can do it manually through the console, well if we are not happy when leveling stops and we lack some skills that we really want to have. I my self do want to use one single char to do a lot of stuff or everything.  😉  This is how you do it briefly:

  • player.modav <skill>
  •     - mods a skill without making changes to the actual skill, like a bonus (and I guess max is 255)
  • player.setav <skill>
  •     - Changes the actual skill (and I guess max is 255)
  • player.advskill <skill>
        - Advance the skill, I do guess it also effect the level itself, if I recall right.

I can add details if this sounds like an option, so which skills do you lack or want to change?

(Also take a peek at the console commands and ID list)

i haven't touched the console and i really don't want to i appreciate the suggestion though i knew this was a thing. i was hoping a modder would have some explanation or information about where they are at with it. just seems like a waste to continue the character if i mod is gonna come out after i have already done everything or even better the devs themselves up the ridiculously low cap for the amount of content there is. i also feel like it would solve the level scaling issue everyone is whining about.

@That1guy1121What a modder will do, is to use those commands in a script and maybe adjust the leveling, either harder or easier, depending on their primary goals. So in either way, changing the way of how leveling is working in Oblivion, either by a modder or by your self, via the console, does not matter. I can promise you that the way of leveling, will not change as this is exact how it works in Oldblivion.

@DirebearCoatYou can lower skills in the same way as you can increase them, which is described in my previous post, but leveling in it self is not a goal with any Bethesda game, as it is skill progress that matters really.  😉

@That1guy1121Let me ask you: Are you unhappy with your chars current skill values or unhappy with them in any other way? If you make a wish list, what is it you want to adjust?  It is of course up to you if you want to wait until a modder might make such a mod.  😉    Mod-making is very new to this game and there is a lot of problems and issues with it right now, stuff that works in Oldblivion that does not work to do in the new game. Also, we must learn so much new stuff to be able to make anything useful.  😉   I do remember the frustrations we had when Oldblivion came out 2006, as it did differ a lot, compared to what we used to in Morrowind, so we had to learn some stuff from each others, scratching our heads until the hair fell off.  😄

Another thing: It is easier to make such a mod if we are able to use OBSE or equivalent, as the standard script language is so primitive and lacks a lot of cool functions and features, that makes life easier for everyone. If that was not the issue, OBSE would have never been needed really. OBSE = OBlivion Script Extended and it adds loads of useful functions. Just look at my Video when I play around with it, making something that would had been IMPOSSIBLE without it.  😄   I do have some more similar videos from Oldblivion that I made, to demonstrate stuff made with OBSE.  😉  Well the point is: Until we get OBSE (or similar), a lot of stuff is impossible to make. The original leveling process is hard coded if I recall right...  😉

Honestly, Oldblivion is not bad at all, so you could try this leveling mod, made by Maskar, with OBSE, as one example and use other cool mods that really works prefect, with OBSE.  😉  What is the main difference between these 2 games? Well Light reflections only really.... NPC's do look better in the older one as well, with this mod: So to make this newer game better, a lot of work needs to be done by the community and it is more than just leveling that needs to be fixed. Virtues will not fix much, as they did what they where supposed to do, with this amount of money. The will add bugfixes, not remake anything else.
