Auto update disable? (Game pass version)

So it seems the game client is checking for, and automatically updating the game. This, obviously is going to be a pain in the ass for mods if everything is randomly broken. Is this something that's enforced by game pass? Has anyone found a way to disable this behaviour?

Game Pass doesn't let you prevent updates, unfortunately.
