Construction Set Extended (installation guide for Oblivion Remastered)

Recommended Posts

So after MANY hours i finally opened Construction Set Extended (CSE), you need a specific .dll file from the original construction set, anyone who says CSE is a standalone is wrong. Also the base construction set doesnt do anything to the game, you NEED CSE too along with obse to mod oblivion internally

The FIRST thing you have to do and that nobody has said is you need to make sure Oblivion Remastered is installed outside of program files, personally i formatted a spare drive on my computer and named it 'GAMES', and went to the steam settings under storage, added that drive, then moved oblivion remastered to that drive.

then you need to install this construction set which is the original, into the Obvdata folder (one folder back from the main data folder with esps)

Construction Set:

https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivionremastered/mods/570

Next extract the obse (old) then the CSE both also in the Obvdata folder.

OBSE:

https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/37952?tab=files

Construction Set Extended (addon):

https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/36370?tab=files

If you already installed and uninstalled CS forty times like me and worried about wiping registry keys, dont, i didnt wipe anything and it worked regardless, so nerd level doesnt have to be robotics tier. Turn on administrator priveledges for Obse in the properties, open the CSE batch file and it should work.

NOTE: i only opened it, i have had zero minutes to tinker with it yet

I move around in the world, but I tried adding a painting to an interior it does not load in game Hmmm. Although I was able to load the new plugins. Oblivion.esm loaded just fine. Could look around the world etc.

Previewing any NPC crashes the CS

The CSE doesn't work for the remastered version of the game, not on its own, anyway, because there are new sub-records that it can't read. Unless or until we have a proper CS for Remasterted you're still going to need to manually clean mods in XEdit.

@SigurdStormhand

im figuring Xedit out still, im very level zero when it comes to scripting, but for me CSE seems to be working, but VERY Restricted in terms of alterations, im just trying to rename the precious stones for a mod im working on but i get an (NL) prefix. somebody already posted a mod that fixes this for all mods but im gonna attempt to remove it myself. so far best i can do with CSE is a gemstone replacer mod for now, but thats ALOT of new programs i must learn, yes CSE you cant really add anything to the game yet without crashing it, but i have seen home mods already with new cells, i dunno how thats possible

If you figure out

"New homes in new cells"

please let us know how they did it. I've been wanting to mod the crap out of OBRE but the documentation is very... scattered at the best of times, or not there yet lol. Understandably I suppose, very new.

@Leet

you could look up Elis waterfront shack for OBRE, she managed to modify the shack starter home, she knows way more bout cells  than i do, im a copy, paste and tweaker when it comes to cells but i havent tried in OBSE yet, working on gemstone expansions first

also you might need this MagicLoader mod to rename new cells
