seweryn
So i am wondering should i use mod organizer or Wrye Mash - Polemos fork - 2021. That version of Wrye Mash uses mlox which is like boss for Morrowind. Thanks for the info, Cheers
Pagafyr
Study them both and then decide. If you decide to make some mods you'll benefit from knowing them both. Some mods require Wrye Mash.
SweetDaggerfall1
I have come back recently to look at Morrowind again, I was modding it back when ElricM and all the other original mod sites were going strong and people were using fps optimizer 1.96 to get better performance and view distance out of the Morrowind engine. Just to say i have some experience in all this. Having said that I had gotten used to the tools available for modding Oblivion and Fallout 3, so i was a little surprised that Morrowind did not have an "exact" version of OBMM (Oblivion Mod Manager by Timeslip). There is the Morrowind Mod Manager that looks a little like it, but the comments for it did not fill me with too much confidence it would be a like-for-like OBMM experience. I do see people these days mention to look at Mod Organizer 2 over on the Skyrim downloads, as it also supports Morrowind. I've ended up using Wyre Mash, the Polemos fork as you mention. The main issue with it i have seen is if you have huge pure texture and mesh replacer mods, with no esp or esm, it does not seem to "see" those files so you can not use it as a nice simple install/uninstall option for these, which seems a bit of a problem. Possibly you need to create your own .zip file of those maybe, then it might "see" them, i'll need to experiment to be sure. EDIT: Nope, tried a zip file of just "Texture" and "Meshes" replacers and Wyre Mash just won't "see" them to be able to use it to install them, tried the "import package" function as well. I guess we are stuck with copy/pasting these large texture replacers by hand then manually undoing them when there is a problem? As a general advice for using Wyre Mash as an installer/uninstaller, get all your files ready first, so repack them to be 100% sure they will get installed to the correct places, many mods (Glow in the Dahrk for example, just picking one from my current mod folder) are not packaged up in a way Wyre Mash will be able to simply install correctly, you will need to go into the mods folders once downloaded and create the correct file structure for Wyre Mash to install. Have a look around for any video tutorials on using Wyre Mash you can find, and also this link i found had some great links to guides (with pics etc) for using Wyre Mash: https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/45439?tab=posts Scroll down to the 5th sticked post and have a look through the links, i liked this one as it was very clear: https://danaeplays.thenet.sk/wrye-mash/ Edited May 7 by SweetDaggerfall1 added info
Dragon32
When I set-up a playthrough a year or two back I used Mod Organizer 2 for installing mods, Mash for its other functionality (cleaning saves etc.) As I understand it, some mods include a Data Files\Animations folder (and maybe other subfolders) that Mash won't install. Also I don't believe it'll install DLLs, maybe other file types.
